Re: Otakon 2009 AMV Contest Rules
Woah - sounds just like me (except for the burn-out part. not there yet)
All of the 'don't know what I'm doing / photoshop' stuff. And I'd be same way at the Cons if I ever went.
Take a break. Find a new hobby for a month/year whatever you need. Pick a TV show and watch every episode.

Just don't run AMV rooms as a breakHalOfBorg wrote:Woah - sounds just like me (except for the burn-out part. not there yet)

Unfortunately, I'll have nothing new for Otakon once again this year too I'll have to see about entering again one of these days (Maybe the same time Vic starts to enter contests again with a new Video)

We could both come out of quasi-retirement and team up, father and son!Vlad G Pohnert wrote:Just don't run AMV rooms as a breakHalOfBorg wrote:Woah - sounds just like me (except for the burn-out part. not there yet)

No one would stand up against us.. Imagine, a crossover action video with lensfares and 10,000 cuts.. UNSTOPABLE... WE WOULD RULE!VicBond007 wrote: We could both come out of quasi-retirement and team up, father and son!

To paraphrase my "Wrong Way, Anime" / Pinky & The Brain:
"What do you want to do today, Vic?"
"The same thing we do every day, Vladdy. Try to take over the world. Or win a trophy or two. Yeh - that would be nice."

Re: Otakon 2009 AMV Contest Rules
Thanks for the replies. I'm feeling ten times better now. Sleep will do that to ya.
So yeah, I'm scrapping this thing. It's just not funny. Static-X to Lucky Star? What the hell was I thinking? And the jokes are so esoteric, you'd need to be really into millions of amv's alone just to get the references. Plus there's a bad joke where the Lucky Star OP is synched to scenes from Jackie Chan's My Lucky Stars. And there are two, no three scenes that involve insulting the video itself with more poorly done word balloons.
Still, it was fun photoshopping an image of Bonta-kun pointing a gun at a Vietnamese prisoner. I'm at work now, so I'll post the image later.
So much for my tenth video this year. Oh well, there's always next year. Maybe I'll revise my first video finally, or make a second Ready, Steady, GIT-R-DONE; lord knows I've been putting both off a long while.
Hopefully, I'll still be able to hang out this year. Looking forward to it again. A little reluctant, but what are you gonna do?

Hey, I'm 28 and I'm like that. And I'm female. Shouldn't I be off having kids rather than making AMVS?! lolParodic Productions wrote:Hope this post wasn't too much drama, I just needed to get this off my chest. Christ, I'm 25 and I'm like this.
I'm glad that you seemed to be feeling better in your last post, especially since I'm a huge fan---I love your "Floyd's Nightmare" vid!
Good luck to everyone who submitted this year. And thanks to Vic for organizing this madness and doing the l33t seats!

@PP: Yeah, I'd say plenty us have our drama, so don't worry about. I rant in my head often enough . One day I feel one way about it all, then the next day I'm fine. Makes me wonder if this stuff makes me a little bi-polar, but then I hear my friends rant about the same thing so I don't feel as bad. It was cool meeting up with you and the gang that Thursday last year. Speaking of which, someone should organize another get-together for this year.

Good to see I'm not the only one. Being pro is for losers! (Hmmm...I should study up on your AMVs to steal your 'de-interlacing' methods.)Parodic Productions wrote:And it's not like I'm an expert on this hobby either. I've never taken a single Computer Science course in my life. I don't know how to mask, I don't know how to de-interlace properly, I don't even know how to make my own website. I feel like a big phony. And I don't even bother learning any of this the right way; instead, I just find my way around it with photoshop and chroma keys.
Aww, damn. It's good to know I have lots to look forward to when I hit my twenties.Parodic Productions wrote:Hope this post wasn't too much drama, I just needed to get this off my chest. Christ, I'm 25 and I'm like this.
At the moment, all I have is teenage angst. Whoot~!
Feel better. D:

Re: Otakon 2009 AMV Contest Rules
So, question: When disallowing studio logos, do you include in that definition any logo that was used commercially to promote the anime (e.g. as might have been displayed during the opening credits)?
