Can't wait to see what next year's competition brings!

Next year's contest will bring the same as every year, the most trolled videos from the fall/spring all as finalists with the biggest troll videos winning it all, with nothing new or original winning anything

back in the day... sending a video to more cons after winning 2-3 awards was trolling

But that's kinda the thing...nothing usually against the rules since in most cases there is only a stale disqualifier, not competition wins. But is it really unethical? Does there really need to be a 'Let others play too' rule?

I personally am stopping submissions that I won't be present for or a friend will be, if at all anymore. That for the most parts leaves 3 competitions a year. But I'm not everyone...and if have to be up against those others that are a bit more cavalier and have already won and the cycle continues...winning is not why I do it.

It was a honor / respect system back in the day... also wanting to make something actually new. Winning is great... but it isn't everything. I also railed against fan catering / pandering videos back in the day. It is easy to win feeding the masses what you know they like... it is hard getting them to eat something that isn't served up on a platter. I have a great deal of respect for those editors...

Completely understood, and totally agree...I'm recent in the game, even after the rise of popularity years back. I do it for a different reason than I see around and pandering isn't the only thorn in the paw of how people like to see their videos served to them. I know I prefer to work fresh, I feel any crap I throw together get stale within a couple weeks and just want to do something brighter, fresher, possibly inventive to see if it works, invest in the project and what not. But alas, competitions are what they are...and the people get what the people want.
