Re: KATSUCON 20 AMV Showdown...FINALISTS (page 2)!
If you were to enter in Zenkaikon's contest, I can also fill you in on why you may not be making it.
We've all been through droughts.
Winning isn't everything, though.
It's usually enough to get on the ballot so, even if you don't win, the same number of people have seen your work.
That's the real goal.
Winning pretty awards is nice but exposure is more important.

When might we expect results to be popping up?

You will all know soon.
We, as AMV staff, are being made to wait until they post the results to their web site and Facebook page.
I feel (and I told our director as such) that this convention is doing too much walking on eggshells with all their legal fears.
Anyway, you will all get to view the award show video as soon as we're able to link you to the results.
Well...maybe *I* can't tell you yet but I know of two people here who definitely could if they felt so inclined.

Re: KATSUCON 20 AMV Showdown...FINALISTS (page 2)!
I'll list what I can recall easily, and shamelessly promote myself at the same time!
Best Action:
BakaOppai's "Magi, the Dayman." (Which my girlfriend will not stop singing)
Best Drama:
Emma Browning, with "Hypocrisy and Innocence"
(Runner up by just one vote - Studio Hawk with "Rebellion!")
Best Upbeat/Dance:
Armed and Out of Medications Productions' "Don't Stop Arale Now!" This also won the Coordinator's Choice, which I think means it won ZAFT's approval.
(On a related note, I do have to ask... why not go for the Retro category with this one?)
Best Retro:
Maboroshi Sudio's "Oblivion"
Best Romance/Sentimental:
Yours truly, Miracle Falcon, with "An Ohtori Love Story," which you can watch right here!
Winner of too many awards:
zMagicstorm's "Become Free at the YMCA"
Actually, on the topic of that last one... By my recollection, it won three awards, but I can't figure out which ones. I know it got Best in Show and Audience Choice, and then I guess it must have gotten Best Comedy... But I coulda sworn it also won Con Chair's Choice. Can anyone help me out?

If accurate this is the first award for my Nausicaa Oblivion AMV... fitting it is for best Retro.

I promise you that is accurate. Deuce said a lot of people were impressed with the fact that you used Nausicaa. For my part, you really spoiled it for me, you should wait a while after these sorts of things come out to reveal plot points like that!MaboroshiStudio wrote:If accurate this is the first award for my Nausicaa Oblivion AMV... fitting it is for best Retro.

LOL! I was amazed at AWA when some other creators said they haven't seen Nausicaa... I was like wtf? Then again I am from the mid 90s AMV generation of creators so Retro is a very fitting description of me... so much better than OLD / Antiquated.Miracle_Falcon wrote:I promise you that is accurate. o_O I bought my Nausicaa DVD in 2005. Movie was made in the 80s. What's your excuse?Miracle_Falcon wrote:For my part, you really spoiled it for me, you should wait a while after these sorts of things come out to reveal plot points like that!
