Wow, that is a low number. I certainly hope the quality makes up for the quantity.

Good luck to all at the pre-screenings. May the odds be ever in your favor, or whatever.

But God, two more weeks just feels so long away.

My theory is just that maybe fewer people created a new video for this convention because more wanted to enter multiple contests with their existing entries...or they were intimidated by what they knew would be a vast number of entrants?

I could definitely see the "wanting to enter in multiple contests" theory, as all it takes is just one major win to at a convention to make it ineligible for the Otakon contest.

At the same time, I wonder if AWA Pro's requirement of videos now having to premiere at their con is also affecting things (as it's possible for some people to be unable to make entries for both conventions, especially if they plan to enter two videos at AWA Pro).

AWA Pro has a smaller crowd of editors and most of those that I know of that enter that did not skip Otakon entries to work on AWA Pro entries. In all honesty, it's probably just a light year for entries with no specific reason causing it. Keep in mind it can't have won at a convention BEFORE the deadline, doesn't matter what it wins after that...

Either way I know it's going to be an amazing contest. I'm looking forward to seeing it, and meeting the other editors there.
