Nope. I've never learned kanji (or even the other two written forms), so I go entirely by ear and dictionary. By ear the long o in 'arigato' sounds like a long o (like in omae) - not an 'ou' like in 'shoujo'. And as Japanese/English dictionaries attest, a long o can be written either with just an o, or an ou depending on the person (no difference really). I think arigato sounds like it cuts after the long 'o' sound, so I cut it there with no u (except in my email address). As for 'mina' - it isn't drawn out and I've yet to see anyone write/translate the word with double n's. When they say the word, it's mi-na, not min-na. I spell it like it sounds. ;pJoykiller wrote:Shouldn't it be Arigatou Minna ....... ?
ありがとう みんな ?
Always wanted to ask that.....
Just call me Ari, it simplifies things.
/completely off-topic now, sorry for that

actually Minna is pronounced min-na, and so is writen with 2 Ns in romanji, and in Hiragana. Hiragana is Mi - N - Na. I don't think i've ever seen it spelled Mina, or Myna for that matter ;p (not to mention MY is not a letter iin the japanese Hiragana system)
As for Arigatou, it is spelled A - Ri - Ga - To - U in hiragana, but most dictionarys do list it in romanji as Arigato with a "-" above the "o" signifying a long "o" sound. I have ocasionally seen it writen as Arigatou also, as is the case in thisonline dictionary.
But, its your name, so it don't realy matter how correct it is as long as you like it like it is. Its kinda more original that way anyway. Just FYI.

Just to let you know, we've recieved nine entries in only four short days. Upon review of these vids a lot of them are outstanding and look like the creators have been at it for years.
I think we can learn a lot from these people. I'm duly impressed with the entries so far.
Okay look for what prize you want to vote for next.
My webmaster Rich, aka Mystic Kakorot, aka SSJ4 Kakorot420, is hard at work in between developing J&POnline 2.0 on making a poll for you to vote on which prizes you like best.
So remember your votes, determine your prize. Keep your eyes peeled on the website for more details. As for me, I'm off to work now. It sucks to work on the weekend but at least its every other weekend and it should be a good day today. So see ya later, if I don't go out for a beer or two. MMmm beer.
Later Gators

The Great Noob / Freshman Tourney
I just made my very first video yesterday. (whee whee) While I don't think its a winner, I don't think it sucks either. (At least its not another #$@$%& Linkin Park/DBZ video!)
I've got several more ideas that may turn out better and hope to have my second video in a month or so.
Should I go ahead and enter my very first video or hold out? I know the rules say something along the lines of 'creator must have made less than 5 videos', but is there any extra consideration if its your VERY first?

I'm somwhat curious about this too. I've entered the AuN since its clearly for 1st videos. I'm still thinking about waiting and seeing how my second effort turns out.
