First off thanks, but I'd disagree. Although I won, I felt most of the videos in the category were competitive and I thought it was "up in the air" going to the awards ceremony. I'll be honest that the first time I saw it (during the afternoon screening), I didn't like it that much. I saw that the editing was good, but well...perhaps I'm just negatively biased to game music videos. . On top of that, I now see what you were going for. Although it's not a "sappy" video, I can see why the audience would vote for it. It feels like a "real" music video with singing, dancing, etc. I guess what I mean is that I could see something like this on MTV .

at the title card??? WOW Thats a first... Historically title cards for my vids produce an audible groan from the audience. 
People totally cheered for the title card. Actually, I thought that the "theme" was not something we voted on, but what Otakon's theme was ("The Olympics", apparently- I didn't even know the con had a theme until after asking someone- on staff- about it). Either way- I think (no offense to the video that won the award- I believe this was the one that wasn't in the finals, so as such I probably haven't seen it...) it was a very poor choice of additional awards. If there is going to be a 'theme' award, there should be more made of the importance (or at least publicity as to what the 'theme' actually is) of it- like ACen, where there is an entire category devoted to the 'theme' that is chosen.Scintilla wrote:It wasn't a category. I'd second DW's praise- personally your video was my choice in this category. I rather like P9 (though I'm apparently one of the only people I know who does...), and having fiddled with an upbeat/action video to it myself know how hard it can be at times to come up with the needed scenes for it- which you did exceptionally well, as well as some very tight masking and beat matching.JCD wrote:Out of couriousity, can anyone tell me how my video was recieved by the audience? You're right, there weren't any groaner videos. I thought it was neato-keen that there were two FLCL videos in the contest that did not have a single frame of footage in common - in fact, they were basically total opposites. As a matter of fact, when there were two videos based on the same series, they were still really different.
