Kumoricon 2016 AMV Contest - WINNERS on page 3
Hello everyone! We are pleased to announce that Kumoricon 2016’s AMV Contest is ready for AMV submissions!
Please follow this link to reach our online rules/submission page: https://www.kumoricon.org/amv-contest
This year, Kumoricon is relocating to Portland, Oregon where the convention will be held from October 28th to the 30th. With the new change in scenery, we have a few changes to announce for this year’s AMV competition.
We are bringing back THE MELTING POT category, where all other genres of AMV’s are welcome if they do not fit into the other contest categories.
To honor the new Kumoricon date, we are also introducing a BONUS THEME “HALLOWEEN” category, for those editors who have a knack at frightful edits, suspenseful transitions, and terrifyingly good scene selection!
Lastly, we have upgraded to using an online submission form through the Kumoricon website — which can be reached here.
It is our hope that Kumoricon’s AMV Contest continues to show the best of the best from around the globe — and all of you make that possible. We look forward to seeing what you create!
Let the Games Begin!!!
Here are this year’s rules! They can also be found on the Kumoricon AMV Contest page.
Categories
There are seven categories for the 2016 contest:
Upbeat / Dance Music: We're looking for fast-paced fun.
Intensity: Action, suspense, conflict, triumph, and despair!
Instrumental: Any style of AMV, but no words in the music.
Comedy / Parody: Weird. Funny? Surprising!
Trailers: Now playing at a Kumoricon AMV Contest near you…
The Melting Pot: If your AMV doesn't fit another Category—Anything "Appropriate" goes!
Bonus Theme "Halloween": To honor the new Kumoricon date, AMVs with Spooky, Scary, Suspenseful Fun!
Contest is PG-13.
We try to run a clean show. This includes no themes likely to insult or disparage by race, social class, religion, ethnicity, gender, or sexuality—because that's no fun for anybody.

Sweet! Will likely participate again. You're doing a good job and thanks for shipping prizes! Is it possible to get my certificates from 2015 and/or 2012? Maybe as a pdf so i can print them myself?

As a contest, Kumoricon has never handed out certificates to winners before. However, we intend to change that this year.
I understand how special it is to have certificates, not only as a memory, but also for proof if you decide to look for a video production job. This is why, as soon as I design the template, I would be happy to create certificates of the previous wins for you. Just send me the details about what you won during those years and then I will cross-reference them with the Contest Coordinator.

Hmmm... Kumoricon is on my radar as a con I need to visit..
If I can ever find the time to make an AMV I'll enter. Is there any other AMV related events at the con?

Hi Vlad!
We were hoping to have more AMV programming this time around. I know we are planning on having an "AMV 101" panel and possibly a few extra AMV viewings. We were also considering an Iron Chef or challenge of some sort.
If you figure out later that you will be attending, please send me a message. There may be a chance for you to participate in a panel or an event, if you felt up to it.
Definitely think about making the trip — we would gladly welcome you and your AMV's!

I really feel like you guys should invest in splitting intensity into "action" and "drama " at some point. I looked back at some threads over the years, and it seems to be a fairly consistent request, and since those are the two categories that get the most entries, I am a bit confused as to why this con constantly feels the need to merge them. I still plan to enter regardless, but I did feel the need to mention that.

Minet! I had no idea you'd be involved with Kumori's contest! Does this mean you'll be there this year?
Now that it's back in my hometown, I'll definitely be there, and submit a few entries.
I'd also be happy to help out with any AMV panels/events. ^w^
((it's Cami. We've talked about how much we love Honey and Clover, and other friendly stuff before ^^))
