Con-Nichiwa 2019 AMV Contest! Deadline June 14th!!!

Konnichiwa, Org Editors! Did you know that Con-Nichiwa's AMV Contest is looking for submissions? Well, we are!

But wait! Mayhaps you're looking for more info before you commit? Well, I'd be more than happy to help!



Rules Below:

-There are three categories, Action, Drama and Fun/Upbeat

-The category winners (along with the Honorable Mention) will go on to compete in the Western Division Championships

-Also, they'll receive Amazon e-gift cards! ($10 for each category winner, $5 for the hon men)

-Any animated source is allowed, including Western cartoons, original animation, and even game footage!

-No subtitles/watermarks/or obvious signs of piracy.

-No excessive gore or nudity, keep it PG-13.

-Video must be less than three years old, so made in June of 2016 or after!

-That's about it!

Alright, the contest's looking really strong so far, but we're very much in need of more Fun/Upbeat submissions (we only have two so far).

So I just want to make sure, there is no Trailer Parody category anymore? It's now counted as "Fun/Upbeat".

Not exactly.

We're going back to what we did originally where Trailers will be judged alongside AMVs with a similar feel, so technically a trailer can be action, upbeat, or drama.

We did this because splitting off trailers into their own category/contest didn't fit with the number and nature of trailer submissions we got.

If you're not sure what category your trailer might fit best in, I can always make some suggestions.

So while we're waiting for results, I figure I'd post about some reactions (I am in no way associated with the judges). Just a little something for any editors that may be stalking the page and wondering about their videos. I apologize that I don't know all the 'official' names to these videos.

"Thriller" had the crowd singing along, along with "Zero to Hero" (I'm not sure what title that video is under).
"Orgy for One" had the crowd laughing out loud too. Honestly one of my favorites too.
"The Force Awakens" trailer had some amazing edits, and several people mentioned it.
"It's okay to not be okay" got a round of 'ahhhs' and "Everything Re:Starts" got some applause (personally another favorite of mine).

Those are just a few that stick out right now, several days later. I know there was a lot of videos, with a rotating crowd. Congrats to the finalist, and good luck on the videos that moved on!
