Hello Everyone.
We are once again open for submissions for the 2020 Anime North Music Video contest, with a deadline of April 4 2019.
Site is located: https://www.animenorth.com/event/index. ... amvcontest
As always there are three competition divisions in which to compete.
Open
This division is open to any and all AMV creators who want to pit their entry against some of the best in the business. The winner of this category will receive the Northern Lights Award.
Novice
This division is for entrants who do not feel comfortable entering the Open category. These neophytes have never won an award or prize for their work. In the spirit of fairness, you should consider entering the Open category if you have made more than 10 videos. The winner of this category will receive the Newbie Award and a promotion to the Open category next year.
Challenge:
The videos in this category must follow the year's specific Challenge
Momiji, our convention mascot, has recently been watching a bunch of Musicals and wants to see what the talented AMV creators can come up with. This year’s challenge is an Audio one. All videos entered in the Challenge division must use audio from a musical (Play, Movie, that one time in the TV series there was a musical number ect).
For any clarifications, please contact video@animenorth.com. If have questions about a song that may or may not be considered a musical please ask.
As always, the AMV must subscribe to the qualification and eligibility requirements in order to be accepted.
If your Video isn't eligible to compete (made prior to Oct 1 2019), or if you have multiple videos you want to show, please submit them to the exhibition category. The Exhibition videos are shown on Sunday at the convention before all of the contest videos.
Good luck to all of our contestants, I wish you all the best.

Granted you'll need some time to sort things out, but what's Anime North's cancellation going to mean for the contest?

As some are aware the Convention has been postponed this year due to the Coronavirus.drewaconclusion wrote: ↑Wed Mar 25, 2020 1:47 pmGranted you'll need some time to sort things out, but what's Anime North's cancellation going to mean for the contest?
As such the AMV contest has also been cancelled for this year.
What this means for next year
1. As there was no contest in 2020, the premier date for amvs in the 2021 contest will remain Oct 2019. If you submitted a video we can hold onto it for next years contest if you desire.
2. We are looking into allowing 2 videos per category next year to allow people to submit their video from this year and next year (no we wont be policing that one is from 2020 and ones from 2021). This depends on how feasible it is to show the additional footage at the convention as 6 hours may be a bit much.
3. We will be contacting all current entrants about the situation shortly. This may take some time, as things are quite hectic.
Thank you everyone who submitted a video or was planning to submit a video. I'm sorry to make this announcement but I hope to see everyone next year. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at video @ animenorth.com
Best wishes and stay healthy and safe.
