Three contests this year: Expo, Accolades, and AOMVs. The submission deadline for all contests is Friday, October 25, 2024 by 11:59 PM Eastern time.

Contest specific updates/key points -
Expo: As usual, our open contest. Submit as many as you want, with the main restriction being do not re-submit videos that have been submitted to AWA contests in a previous year.

Accolades: This year, we're planning on 8 fixed categories to start: Action, Comedy, Drama, Sentimental, Fun/Upbeat, Character Profile, Wildcard, and Best in Show. Up to 7 additional categories will be added during the initial phases of the judging process. As usual, each editor is limited to two entries for this contest (collabs count as one entry for each editor involved).

Adults Only Music Video (AOMV) contest: A new every-other-year contest to run during Masters off-years. As with Accolades, each editor is limited to two entries, and we request that editors fill out to the content portion of the submission form. While these videos will run during age-restricted blocks, we still intend to have content warnings for videos in those blocks. So editor self-reporting for content will be much appreciated, as it helps us with putting the warnings together.

Putting the answer for a question that came up in the VAT discord here: A video may be submitted to both Accolades and AOMVs; such a video would be subject to the Accolades right-of-first-exhibition requirement. I've also changed the upload option for AOMVs to a blind drop for the sake of Accolades.

I should be up to date on confirmation e-mails again. In the future, in the event I'm being slow about it, feel free to reach out on here, via Discord, or e-mail (jwcolossal@gmail.com) to poke me on it. I try to stay pretty on top of things, but entries come in slow this time of year, so I don't always check the intake forms as frequently as I maybe should.

I am aware there are some unacknowledged submissions since the last round of e-mails I sent out. I apologize; COVID has struck down everyone in my house. I will get caught up again when I feel less like garbage.

As a heads up, 9/14-9/22 I will be traveling for a relative's wedding. I'll be able to check e-mailed questions and such; I just won't be able to check the forms and confirm entries during that period. I'll try to make sure I'm up caught up as of when I leave on Saturday the 14th to minimize the impact.

I've recently sent 1 video for the accolades section. If you come across one I've already sent sometime ago before this one, that can be discarded and this current one be kept for the contest.
