Animethon AMV Contest Overview and Results!
Well, just got back from Animethon 10 here in Edmonton and I must say the AMV contest went over better than I thought! This was Edmonton’s First AMV contest and the line up for it was HUGE and could of filled the room 3x over.
Now Animethon is done on a campus so the rooms they can budget for are not huge, but the room the contest was in is the largest. For all those that did not make it into the room, they gave out numbered tickets and were planning to show a tape of the contest after in a smaller overflow room, but the line grew much bigger so they cleared the schedule and I was asked to play the contest again in the big room right after the first showing!
Then they showed it two more times in the overflow room as well! Hence, Edmonton loves AMVs just as much as everywhere else! With one more showing in the overflow room tomorrow, 400+ people will have seen the contest. Yes, the numbers are smaller than at the bigger cons, but for a first time event at a festival con like this it’s outstanding!
I’ll be working on getting a much bigger room next year for sure! I want to thank everyone who sent in an entry and made the contest very enjoyable for the fans. There were 7 local AMC creators there that send into the contest and they were very positive about it since it’s there first contest and were eager to compete with even better videos next year!
So all in all everyone was happy and enjoyed them selves and that’s what it’s all about!
The Winners for the Contest were (Sorry about not providing links, but I’m tired and have an AMV panel tomorrow):
Judges Category Winners:
Best Drama/Romance: Glory of Love by Ninja Gaijin Productions
Best Action Adventure: The Need for Speed by Skyfire AMV Productions
Best Comedy: Fight! by Tom "The Fish" Guttadauro
Best Artistic and Technical: Alternate Reality by Mindwarp Entertainment
All the above winners will receive and Animethon certificate with their video titles, studio signed by the Animethon Chairman and the AMV coordinator (oouuuhhh, a “Vlad” signature…Yea…I know, whatever!)
Overall
Best Overall Judges: The Need for Speed by Skyfire AMV Productions
Best Audience (by Ballot): Time Warped by Incoherant Babble
Productions
All the Overall Winners will get a certificate and a Trophy
Congratulations to all the winners!

Vlad,
Congrats on a successful contest, and of course, the same to all the entrants!
Just wondering...is this the same Need for Speed that played at Anime North (honorable mention)? It's not in the database and I want to make sure I have the right entry.
BTW, if you're willing to share the entire list of finalist AMVs, I can add those to my contest list as well.
