Which AMV contests to submit to for 2004
I, and most of us here, have entered several conventions over the past several years. So it should be pretty easy to narrow this field down. But I'd like some help.
Which are THE anime conventions to submit AMVs to this year? The really popular or semi-popular ones everybody looks forward to.
Ideally it would be those that accept and support online or digital submissions - which knocks A-kon off my list (sorry).
I know Anime Weekend Atlanta and Otakon are big, maybe even Anime Central. But I not sure if Anime Expo, Nan Desu Kan, and others of the past are still favorable when it comes to AMVs.

Well, this year I'll be running Animethon and AnimeEvolution's contest once again. And yes, the nice custom made trophies will be back at both!
I also plan to play all the entires in the AMV room at AnimeEvolution and most likely in one of the overflow rooms at Animethon since at that con I'm also the Director of Programming

Pacific Media Expo looks pretty damn good, for the most part. While I'm relatively new to the whole " actually making music videos " scene, it's one of the best I've seen thus' far; I sent off the video I posted on a-m-v.org to them last week. They have an Anime Music Video contest, and a Video Game Music Video contest. Also a Crossover, for anyone who likes to cross VG and Anime. The submissions right now are via' mail, [ burning your video onto CD-R. ] but again, it looks pretty good. Here's a link. http://pacific-media-expo.com/pmx/events/amvrules.html
History is composed of choices and divergences. Each choice you make creates a new world and brings forth a new future. But at the same time, you're eliminating a different future with the choices you didn't make. A future that was destroyed even before it was born. This, is fate.

oops, forgot to add that AnimeEvolution loves AMVs! hence they support the AMV contest and provide a 500 seat theatre to run AMVs programming all weekend long! This year I plan to have several supirses on hand and there is the possibility that the room will run 24 hours!
Also, at Animethon, the AMV contest last year was the most popular event! The lineup to the contest as about 500-700 people long! The contest was played abut 4 times over to satisfy the demand.
Just goes to show that Canadians love AMVs just a much as in the US

Akon and email don't belong in the same sentence.mexicanjunior wrote:I actually received an A-Kon progress report via email which said they would be accepting digital submissions this year. They haven't updated their website with this though.

Yes, and after the fiasco over them last year I don't care for them anymore.Beowulf wrote:Isn't Anime Expo notorious for its ridiculously bad contest? Everyone I hear from says its just lame on all fronts. Bad judging, bad technicals, bad environment.
I need to keep an eye out for those entry dates. It's in the summer, right?Well, this year I'll be running Animethon and AnimeEvolution's contest once again.
That's funny. Yeah, even if they say they will be accepting digital submissions this year, I still need to see it on their site. It is A-Kon's 15th anniversary and I'd like to participate, even if I won't be going.Akon and email don't belong in the same sentence.
