Just your obligatory thread asking who all submitted and who's going to be there.

I won't be able to attend :( so instead three videos of mine will be taking my place :D

Anyone else send anything or going to be there?

I was going to submit my three videos for the year, until I realized a few days before the deadline that I had no way of getting to the post office in time. By the time I once again had a car, the deadline was past. So I just was like "screw it, there's always next year".

I have to say that NDK gives really nice trophies (and by that I mean the Asuka Awards)... unfortunately, when mine arrived in the mail, it was in three pieces. :P

Ooo that sucks (about missing the deadline and the Asuka trophy).

Are they usually pretty good about posting results and everything?

They need to use better glue. The head of mine fell off during the car ride home.

But anyway, I entered three vids and I'll be there.

woot. Double post. Anyway, they are not good at posting results (it took them 2+ weeks to put the results up on their website after last years contest). So I'll see what I can do about remembering to bring a pad of paper to the awards so I can write down the winners and just post them on the forums here.

i just got back from it yesterday, and i have to say it was amazing. all the amv videos were great, one of my favorites was the advance wars 3 one, just couldnt stop laughing on that one! there were so many music videos, but yet only 2 and a half hours to show them all. at the shop part of the convention i bought a knife and a katana, great prices on both of them also! it closed before i could by my main gift tho, a huge keychain bullet (about 1.5 inches thick, 3 or 4 inches long) which says "lupin3rd" on it. hopefully i can find it online. im definitly going next year, hopefully staying all 3 days too. so much fun

The contest was decent, and went pretty well besides from a few problems. One of the problems was due to the "simulcast" crap that they have to do because the crowd won't fit into one room, and the equipment they were using to do this messed up, and one of the rooms lost their sound (the contest was replayed for them later). The other was that, on one video (which happened to be one of mine) the quality got digitally curb stomped. I don't know what happened, but it just shows me that I really need to get around to getting an MPEG2 encoder. Anyway, here's the winners:

Game Music Video Award:

Alan (Psygnius)----- (I missed his last name, and went I asked the co-ordinator for it, she wouldn't give it to me :( ) for Music Gets the Best of Yuna

General Awards:

Jason Schaffer (GreenJinjo) for:

Advance Wars 3: Evangelion Commercial Re-Hack

Transcendi

and Fuyutsuki Fluffy

Afleck Plays the Shark (this is a two-man creative team, and, like Alan up there, I was unable to get their names from the co-ordinator) for:

Clocks - Spirited Away

and Lost Boys Calling -End of Evangelion

Alexander Trullinger (Storyteller) for

Pink - Maze
No Need for Flash Gordon
The Intimacy of Battle

Zach Smith for:

I Think It Was a Love Story -FLCL

And the Fan Favorite went to Patrick McGrey for:

Paperback Writer - R.O.D. OVA

Golden Rhapsody

And one other vid that I wasn't able to write down :(

Anyway, the contest was fun. About 50% of the videos were good, and the rest . . . well . . . weren't as good :?. The contest seemed to me to be literally held up by about seven creators, which were the 5 Asuka winners, Uncle Milo, and myself.

But anyway, Congrats to all the winners! And the rest of you, well, you showed lots of potential, so keep at it and come back next year!

And if you want to hear more about the contest, I should have a small con report up soon which will go into (slightly) more detail.
