Otakon: Rules and Submission Form

Post by hackerzc » Tue Feb 15, 2005 5:49 pm

Ok everyone, I know it's been long in coming, but the rules and submission form for the contest are ready to go. They can be accessed in the files section of the OtakonAMV Mailing List
You have to join the list to have access to the files.

Please note: each person has to be approved for membership prior to having access. So please list your reason for joining in your request.(need for approval may be lifted in the near future)

Thank you, and I look forward to seeing a number of our "regulars" again, as we work through yet another year of transition.

Also for quick refference, the Due Date is May 19, 2005

Um is there a possibility of having the forms and guidlines posted on the site directly anytime soon?

Some people are not particularly fond of mailing lists and the general clutter that occurs in their inbox as a result.

In all honesty I do not know when they will be available on the site. Seeing how the rules are finalized, I do not think it will be too long.
I personally would like to see them there by the end of the week. But that is up to Otakon's webmaster to post. I do not even know if he has the infomation yet or not. I only learned of the rules being available today myself, and was given the go ahead to let others know they are available.

3 months prior to the Con for the deadline... That's going to be tight for me to get things done... Why 12 weeks?

Also, the form has FTP as an option but it's stated there will be no FTP site...

Looks like the rules are exactly the same as last years and the same submission form...

100% agree.

Last year we had a good 5 months to get our entries ready. Considering somet of us were waiting for the rules, this seems a bit strange. Also the con is late-August vs. late-July...seems like they just chose the exact same weekend as last year. I only remember since it was right after ACen again ;)

Also as Vlad said, if we have to now mail our entries in, effectively there aren't 12 weeks, there are 11 since we have to take into account the postal service.

Hey John, please dont take this the wrong way, but I've yet to see even one post from this new Coordinator? Please tell me it's not a communication repeat of last year...

Also, The rules indeed look like a exact duplicate of last years as with the form, are there any changes at all?? Just wondering....

Would it be a problem to post the rules here on this site?

There are several other contests that have no rules posted on the respective conventions' Web sites for whatever reasons (Fanime, Anime North, Anime Central, and Anime Next). The organizers have posted the rules here (except Fanime where the rules are on a personal site).

Actually the form is different. Infact the choice of submission (ie: FTP, CD, TAPE) was not on last years rules. And the rules have some changes/additions.

Oh, and the FTP submission is on the form because the coordinator did not know until a few weeks ago that OtakuVideo no longer existed. Last I was told, The possibility of FTP is still being looked into.
