Otakon Contest Rituals

Post by The Floyd » Mon Apr 04, 2005 1:10 pm

My god, the Deadline is in a month and a half and I havn't even started editting yet... /cry

So what are some of the "rituals" you perform when preparing for the Otakon amv contest every year?

Me? I stock up on hot pockets and watch the previous year's winners and runner up's while taking a break from editing. (some people call this brainstorming; I call it desperation)

(And I bet you mods thought this was going to be an off topic thread  )

Me, my rituals consist of spending long hours of non-stop work and shooting pool while rendering previews. Oh and yes stock up on a lot of Code Red Mountain Dew. Insane isn't it and I don't have April 19-30 to edit because I have to go somewhere and I really have no choice in the matter. So less than a month for me with less than half of my vid done.

Now that you mention it... I suppose one of mine is deciding what video to send (if I actually have more than one choice) :P

I have my anime club also do a mini contest to decide which one of my videos will attend Otakon that's what I did last year.

Basically what I do is I usually take 2 already released vids and 1 unreleased vid and show them to my anime club and have them decide which of my 3 most recent vids they like better and Fighting For Your Love won the little thing to get into the Otakon Pre-Screenings and at the Pre-Screenings it went on to the finals. Hopefully some fate will be with me this year when I enter Otakon again. The experience is one thing I will not forget.

My gosh!

I just make videos for the enjoyment on it and send in something I enjoyed making the most... And If I don't end up with a video done by the deadline, so be it...
