SSJ's Big Character Profile Contest!
Holy moly it's a contest done by SSJ!
The Lowdown:
You create a new video (using a single anime source and a single song) based on the life, personality, or general events surrounding a specific character. The video must clearly revolve arround that character, and emphasize any aspects of their personality. It may, of course, feature other characters, but you have to convince me that it really is all about one of them. Subgenres can be anything (Action, Drama, Romance, Comedy, whatever), but the video MUST be a character profile. The final rule is that you may NOT use anything more advanced than fades, cuts, and overlays. Why this rule? It allows for added emphasis on the character and the anime itself without turning the video into an effectsy eye candy fest. It also allows for a much more even playing feild in terms of judging for the storytelling award (it forces the editor to place more emphasis on the storytelling to make the video truly good).
Awards:
Awards will be rewarded in four seperate catagories: Editting (Speaks for itself), Concept (The video with the best idea/preplanning behind it will recieve this award. Originality and wittiness will play a huge role in determining it.), Storytelling (Esentially the video with the best execution of a concept), and Overall (Again, speaks for itself). The Prizes are as follows:
Editting: 1 free 500+ word ops from me.
Concept: 2 free 500+ word ops from me.
Storytelling: 2 free 500+ word ops from me.
Overall: 3 free 500+ word ops from me OR a single dvd of no more that $25 in cost.
And yes, one video can recieve multiple awards. Also winners will recieve official recognition on Blood Sugar's official Website. If there are enough entries, I will add honorable mentions for each catagory.
Judging:
I am judge, jury, and executioner for this contest. That's right, you're gonna have to impress ME and ME ALONE for this. Don't like it? Don't enter. But in all honesty, I'm doing this so people can have fun and so a few more good character profiles get thrown on to the org, so you shouldn't hesititate to enter nor feel too much pressure about actually winning or anything. Since I am judge, however, it's only fair that I restrict any of my fellow Blood Sugar members from winning any actual awards, so as to be fair and unbiased. Also you can expect me to be honest, but also respectful of all entries I see. Don't get pissed if you don't win, though, lest I kick you in the head.
I will be using a scoring system for the overall catagory based on different aspects of the video. I'm willing to release scores of any entry to their creator as well, all you need to do is ask. The system will work as follows:
Visual Quality: 10 pts
Audio Quality: 10 pts
Originality/Sincerity: 20 pts
Character Intergration: 30 pts
Editting/Synch: 30 pts
Total: 100 pts
Deadline for entry:
November 1, 2005.
Other tidbits/rules:
-You may only enter videos made between now and the deadline (so made over the next two months).
-You may enter up to two videos.
-All rules are subject to change at any point. Contest's existence will be determined by the amount of entries I recieve.
- You MAY release your videos on the org or wherever you so desire before the deadline, judging will NOT be blind.
PLEASE post in this thread if you are interested. I would love to know what I can expect in terms of entries. Thanks.

The best effects are the ones you don't notice.
