Is it rude to...?

Post by Katrina » Wed Jan 18, 2006 11:02 pm

...attack people with a blunt object if they don't like my AMV's? (Kidding... I'm kidding!)

Actually, I was wondering is it considered rude to enter an AMV to a contest in a convention you know full well you will not be attending (or at least you're very sure you're not?) I've always felt like entering to cons I can't attend is another form of trolling, but others don't seem to feel that way at all. (I'm not pointing fingers, I'm trying to get an opinion.)

What do others think?

Actually almost all of the videos put into a contest are from someone who isnt there. So feel free to send yours in, mos conventions usually say its ok as well.

If I only ever sent videos to contests I was attending, no one would ever get to see them on the big screen.

Really? I feel a lot better now. Usually the two cons I attend are Katsucon and Otakon and let's face it, Otakon can be very hard to get into.

If it's a relatively large con (AWA, Acen, A-kon, etc), it's not a big deal. But it's not cool to do the same with smaller local cons. Those should be about promoting the local scene and local editors.

That's true. I think I would also feel better about submitting to cons that I have gone to in the past but can't attend the current year for whatever reason.

I'd like to add another question which is slightly different in content: Is it rude to submit the same video to multiple competitions?
