Tekkoshocon AMV Contest Winners
Here is the official list because I doubt much of anything that I did on Sunday made much sense. If I seemed a bit off there it was due to the equipment failures and the all weekend renderfest I was stuck doing that I only had 6 hours of sleep from Tues until literally collapsing soon after closing ceremonies. I appologize for that.
So here is the list and I will dig for org links later this week after my three exams.
Audience Voting:
Audience Favorite & Best Trailer: The Chronicles of Ghibli- Pops
Best Drama: Heroes of Bleach- Michael Zybryski (and probably mutilating the name)
Best Action: Ganseki no kobushi- Songbird21
Best Upbeat: Clear Skies- SenshiMamoru
Best Romance: Daydreaming- JubJub2
Best Comedy: Just Another Naruto Video
Judges Voting: (With general Explanation)
Judge's Favorite: Gene Starwind Rocketman
This video was absolutely beauituful. It fit the scenes perfectly with many little subtle uses of timing and flow. It stood out even amongst the many excelent Drama videos. The judges all agreed it was a video that deserved some major kudos.
Best Execution of Video and Best in Show: The Prince and the Kappa
There was little debate on which video executed its concept the best. It is a fun video all around and surprisingly works from beginning to end. It is quite good technically without being unecessarily flashy.
Best Technical: The Chronicles of Ghibli
This took the judges about 1.5 seconds to figure out. That is what happens when 90% of the video consists of various masks. Vlad you may now retire your video! :p
Most Original: Macross Stop-Motion
AMV's themselves are an art of love but to actually go as far as to make a stop-motion animation using the merchandise from a 25 year old show is astounding. It is quite well done and despite not really being anime, it was determined it was enough in the right vein to be considered appropriate.
Best use of Storytelling in a Video: My Lord's Prayer
Despite a german song, you could follow what was happening in the video and the mood was simply just right. This was a good example of a video that does not have any flash at all but can be very effective at conveying its point.
Most Entertaining Video: Lost in an Anime Dream
There really isn't much of a point to this video. However it is very fun to watch. The flow is nice and unlike most AMV's it actually felt like an actual music video.
Honorable Mention went to a video we could not show in the contest due to sexuality. It used End of Summer to Vanessa Carlson's White Houses. It was the most tastefully done hentai video I had ever seen and was probabaly the best romance video in all honesty but could not be shown.
So our big winner was Vlad with x3 awards. Even in his frail old state he is quite the overacheiver it seems.

Macross Stop Motion
Hi just want to say thanks for including this film with your AMV's.
I'm Matt aka Gorgo... an extremely low budget animator and special effects artist.
Ya see,my goal is to make kind of a Hobby Japan Video of sorts and perhaps down the line advertise Japanese products. You can count on there being more Macross
stop motion in the future. Right now my camera is broken so it's been put on hold.
I've developed a good relationship with Toynami and am going to be recieving additional props to animate.Like the 1/6 scale Hikaru (Rick Hunter).
Here is a different cut of that AMV with different audio .
Macross the digi-stop motion

There's another short film I want to share with you all.
I did a stop motion Voltron based on it's original "King of 100 Beasts GOLION"
useing Toynami's Diecast toy.Which I might add...is great and transforms into
Voltron very well.

Congrats to everyone on their amv's.
