Just want to let you know that a first-year convention in Madison, WI in October (encompassing ALL geek things...anime, scifi, gaming, etc.) is having an AMV contest.

This sounds like an excellent contest, but why 15 seconds of black before and after? I already have an encode of the same video with 1 second of black, 2 seconds of black, and 3 seconds of black for different conventions. I think another encode is going to kill me. It's pretty easy to have someone just stop playback momentarily between each video

Actually.....the main person in charge of AMV viewing wasn't able to be at the meeting when we decided that, so it was really an arbitrary number. I'll bring it up to the group and see if I can find out why we were asking for 15 seconds. It might not be a hard and fast number.

Ok.....we've gotten in touch with the guy planning the AMV showcase, and he's clarified to us that the 15 seconds of black is unnecessary, so take a look at the new rules (probably not up yet, but will be soon). If you've got something with 2 seconds or 3 seconds that's fine too. Bottom line is that it doesn't matter all that much.
