Question regarding AMV Contests
I'm not sure if this should be in the contests section or not so w/e.
My question is, is it normal to submit AMV's to Contests at Conventions you don't plan to attend and just check online if you won an award or not? I'm wondering since I don't go to many conventions but I would love to get my AMV's out there on the contest scene. Thanks.

Even if you put distance against an opponent in true strength, you'll only get driven into destitution. The important thing when faced with various situations is to bet on the unstable winning chance and throw yourself into the uncertain future. Nothing can be done if you're afraid.

Just make sure that the cons you're targeting will allow it. JACON, for instance, always used to require that AMV contestants have registered for the con (don't know if they still do); Nan Desu Kan used to collect $5 from each contestant who wouldn't be attending, in order to defray costs of shipping the awards.

Alright good to know. I was planning on entering both Metrocon and Nan Desu Kan. Has anyone ever entered these contests this way? Was it a good experience?

There are probably only a handful of cons where more than a few editors with videos in the contest show up. If this wasn't the case, many contests wouldn't be all that great for the audience.

I've entered both that way, and I had no complaints (aside from my problems getting Metrocon's upload mechanism to accept my file at first); also, back in 2003 when I won an Asuka Award at NDK, they shipped it to me with no hassle... but by the time it arrived, it was in three pieces. ^^>Syaoran-kun55 wrote:Alright good to know.
