x2...or is it x3? Well, whatever.

It makes the collector's edition very very worth it. The Poet and the Pendulum is an instrumental masterpiece, imo.
... yea ...

Because Scott isn't here to mention these:

God Is an Astronaut
John 5

Also, try Lovesliescrushing? They're lo-fi ambient music, which is completely compiled of guitar and humming wordless female vocals. They're often mistaken that they'd use keyboards or computer-altered guitar but that's not true =P

No mention of my favorite instrumental bands, Man or Astro-Man? and Zero 7. Man or Astro-Man? is all surf guitars and 50s science fiction movie samples with the occasional theremin. Their few songs with lyrics are quite skippable if you want. :) Zero 7 tends to be half and half lyrical songs and instrumental songs, but the lyrics really don't get in the way and the songs aren't really focused on the words anyway. If you do happen to get some Zero 7 and you like watching CSI, you can play "name that Zero 7 song sample" during many episodes....

The Pillows does a lot of instrumental work. Not all of it is instrumental, but most.

These bands aren't exclusively instrumental, but the following songs by them are. Most of them have more instrumentals than just what's listed, but these are my personal favorites:

Apocalyptica - Path; In Memoriam; Beyond Time
Clint Mansell - First Person Shooter (off the Doom movie ost, although the film itself sucked)
Infusion - We Follow. I Fly
Marilyn Manson - Resident Evil Main Theme; Seizure of Power; Cleansing
Juno Reactor - Control
The Immortals - Techno Syndrome (aka Mortal Kombat theme)
Metallica - Orion (has to be one of the best songs out there period); The Call of Ktulu; To Live Is To Die
Opus 4 - You're in the Battlefield (off the BGC Tokyo 2040 ost)
Orbital - Satan (only the mix for the Spawn movie opening credits)
Overseer - Supermoves
Peace Orchestra - Who Am I
Propellerheads - Spybreak; Crash
Tool - Triad (although you have to listen to the lyrical songs Disposition and Reflection leading up to this since all 3 are basically one big song)
"It doesn't have to be a good movie in order to be fun, nor does it have to be a bad movie in order to be unwatchable."

Apocalyptica - Stroke

Firewind - Feast of the Savages and Before The Storm

Machinae Supremacy - The Great Gianna Sisters

Metallica - To Live Is To Die and Orion

Liquid Tension Experiment - Acid Raid

Mors Principium EST - Lost Beyond Retrieval

I'm not too well versed in great instrumentals.
Draining dry the very mind - all we know is what they show - never seen the chains that bind.
