Would taped music be a good option for me?

Post by sanarota » Fri Feb 20, 2009 2:16 pm

Would taped music be a good option for me? I love to sing and play music. I can't find anyone to get into a band with. All my friends are either in bands or talentless. So would it be a good idea to record the music and sing live with taped music. Would this be a good idea and is it common? Does it depend on the music?

Play all the instruments yourself and record each part individual and then layer the audio tracks together. There are quite a lot of one-man-bands.

Multi-track editing software is your friend. My personal recommendation is Adobe Audition, but there are tons of other options out there for you to try.

Really the most important thing is for you to be comfortable. If you're more comfortable playing alone with your guitar...do that. If you're comfortable recording the instrumentals on a track and playing along...do it. Comfort is key.
