Being an assistant English teacher in Japan, I don't like it when I teach the correct pronunciation of certain words, and the actual teach ruins it by teaching them Katakana English again.

They do this because the regulations were poorly written. They're not allowed to set their volume to be higher than the programming, but the programming only peaks at that value. The asshole commercials compress their dynamic range to the entire thing is at that peak value, which makes it seam WAY louder. There was supposed to be some new legislation to prevent this, but so far it seems to be business as usual.
