Songs like these...

Post by Lone Wolf » Fri Jun 06, 2003 10:52 pm

I have discovered that songs with current musical sounds as well as Cassical sounds (symphony stuff...you know) are extremely good. Some song examples include:

Robbie Williams - Millennium
The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony

What other songs are like these? I enjoy them a lot.

"My Sanctuary" by Pig has some symphonic elements, although it's a hardish industrial song.

"Die Zeit In Der Die Freundschaft Starb" by L'Ame Immortelle is kind of the same, although rather obscure.

The various versions of "Love Never Dies" by Apoptygma Berzerk have the same epic, old style scope.

AIM me if you want a listen...

Versus' Deep Red, everything by Sigur Ros, Pink Floyd's Atom Heart Mother, everything by The Rachels, some stuff by The Red House Painters (nothing specific comes to mind right now), Run On's Everything You Say.

If you enjoy classical style guitar, check out John Fahey's early stuff.

Ebony Tears - Nectars of Eden

GET IT!
- Newbie: Hey, has anyone made a video like this: *insert idea that hasn't been done yet*?
- Old Timer: Nope, but that's a great idea! I'll go make that video right now and release it faster than you can even capture the footage!
- Newbie: D'oh!

KMFDM - Liebieslied - has the same symphony sample as AB's Love Never Dies

Conjure One has heavy use of real string sections.
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.

Most of the songs off Flaming Lips' "The Soft Bulletin" album are classical in nature, just with a hard edge in the drumming and guitar work. Highly recommended.
