uhh man..i gave up like 2 pages ago...
your avatar is suiting

and Fire, what I said is true to like 90%+ of the Rap industry, I think that's enough to generalize. Only a few rappers I know of do their own stuff, and it may not even be rap, I think it's hip hop.
ok, el_farlo i said i wasn't going to read through the whole thread, i only read a few posts on the first page ... sorry ...

Fire? I guess thats me ... or was it firestorm? Bah, either way your right ... I remember hearing a bunch of rappers in my math class talking about different sub-geners of rap and how some are absolute bullshit. I jsut never put much effort into eaves dropping so i don't know the whole conversation.

Jace Tsunami wrote:But Kracus, Rap doesn't teake a lot of skill, AT ALL. There's probably a kid in every high school that can do just as good as Eminem or 50 Cent, because it's all they do all day is rap to themselves.

So ok, it doesn't take a lot to do, but they're still expressing themselves /end sarcasm

if you read the stuff I typed, Rappers arn't even writing this shit, they're snot responcable for ANYTHING. They get paid by majoring clothing companies and such to use their lyrics that promote their products, then they have a professional song writer write actual MUSIC to rap to. Most people don't even like rap, just the music these rappers rap to, and almost none of them write their own music. Just like brittney Spears.
Brittney Spears Fan wrote: This new Brittney song has such a tottaly rad cool beat to it I can dance too!!!
Hor does that make HER skilled? She doesn't write her actual music, and not many rappers do either.

So just what are they expressing Kracus? They don't have a hand in creating any of their music :?
when I talk of skill I mean the way people can word things. Just like not everyone can be a great writer. Now as it goes for Pop industry, spears has a decent voice that's it. That's her skill, it's not much cause well look at american idol. There are plenty of horrid Rappers, Pop artist and rock, heavy metal.

I just don't like it when people pick on rap cause the majority of it gets more attention then the people who actually do it not for the money aspect. And when it comes to Rap and Hip hop its the freestyle aspect, what can you spit out that's actually good without working on it first. But Rappers aren't the only ones who sell out, look at...fuck I can't remember their names, but go to Hondacars.com and look at one of the civics they have their pictures plastered all over with the cars.

I'd say more but I gotta go. but for all these reason I hate the RIAA attack on people who download the load of shit they put out.

I'm not saying these people arn't skilled, I'm saying being skileld is nothing to be proud of. I can go to my highs chool and find atleast one kid that can cover every 50 cent song he's put out and sound the same, and atleast one kid for Eminem.

Sure they can do it, and it's cool and all, but it's COMMON skill. There are just too many people that can effortlessly do EXACTLEY what these rap artist do, for me to priase them for being able to do it.

I mean it's like basic math, it's marvel, it's incredible the human race is so smart and has this skill, but any one who completes grade school has this ability. You gunna give some one a grammy for solving an Algebra 1 problem?

These people are skilled, but no more skilled than so many others.

They'd need to be unique for my to respect the talent they have ona larger level.

So if talent is the thing that makes you a fan, what it comes down to is the art of everything. Writing the music. I've already disgussed how these present day rappers don't write their music or their lyrics, so there goes that.

I just can't like rap artists. Sure there are some good songs that have some pretty cool beats, but the rapper didn't write the music, he only sings simple two bit lyrics to it, so I'm NOT going to credit him. The music I like, the band writes all their own music and lyrics, and play all their own instruments. When I go to a show I can succsessfully think to myself, wow what a cool band, they did all this amazing stuff. I mean there are some complex riffs, but still even in my genre of music high school kids can practice on their guitar or drum set and learn these songs, but to make this music is something ompletley diffrent. I always have that to fall back on, that I know the band MADE the music.

You just destroyed your own argument for why rap is tehs uck :? The only difference between a kid being able to practice and imitate a rap artist verses a rock/punk artist is a monetary barrier i.e. the cost of equipment. If every person out in the world had a guitar or a drum set they could equally imitate rock/punk songs as kids sometimes imitate rap songs.

And still, being able to imitate a work, does not mean it is not good. I can quote you passages from many great books, but that makes them no less great.

You are letting the fact that you don't like rap lead you to believing that there is a reason beyond subjectivity to dislike the whole genre. Your generalizations of a single genre are not completely false, the whole idea that there is a lot of really bad rap songs. But then again, how many shity punk bands do you get before a really good one pops up? Way to many. And it's that way with any popular genre.

I don't like country music, but at least I can just admit that it's something I don't like and not try to justify not liking it.

John, I know they're the same, that's what I was saying. Any kid can play any Ataris song if they try, but I know Kris Roe wrote every last one with the rest of the guys.

I'm saying if they can't be unique because of their skill lvl, then you must like them for the music they make, no? Well they don't make it. Rappers get paid by big corporations to use their half assed lyrics that promote their products, then professional music writers write "music" for rappers to rap to.

Like I said, I canc redit the GENRE as being ok, I cans ee why people like to listen to it, but I CAN'T credit the rappers themselves. They just don't put very much work into it. I KNOW all the bands I listen to made 100% of all their CDs by themselves. Even if some kid is just gunna copy it, atleast they wrote something worth imitating.

Once again ignorant muh fuckas have begun to spread an uneducated, or rather uninformed, view of hip hop. Just because a nigga knows all the words to a 50 Cent song, that doesn't mean they have skill, When a nigga can come up with a unique and complex acapella rhyme off the top of his head, then that's skill. Though i am not fond of the materialistic and wannabe gangsta rappers, all hip hop artists desreve credit and respect for what they do. Any man can come up wiith a rhyme but not everyone can rap.

Some niggas don't even write the lyrics they make, some just freesytle the the whole album. and if anyone could read the god damned linear notes, the songs are written by the artist, but you would knw that if you knew the artists real names. Some artists, like RZA of the Wu-Tang Clan and Kanye West make their own beats to rap over. If u gonna talk shit, make a valid argument.

Peace to my nigga Kracus

i personally really don't like rap, but whatever

what i hate is when people blair it in the school hallways, or in their cars and i have to hear it, thats what pisses me off about rap

not everyone does it, but more people than nessary

also, not every rap song is about killing, or "smacking my bitch" or whatever, but there is just too much swearing and vulgerness in rap, lack of respect for women, and lack of respect for people too, and it really pisses me off

the style isn't my taste, but thats not what i hate, its many things of the rap culture that bugs me
No one's perfect...well there was this one guy...but we killed him.

To everyone here who dislikes rap because of its content, I make the following recommendations:

Aesop Rock - No Regrets
Aesop Rock - Daylight
