Anyone else the underdog?

Post by Brolly345 » Sat Oct 25, 2003 12:44 pm

What I mean is: Do some of you guys (and girls  ) like music no one else around you likes? I like metal, rock music, and calmer songs like those from Simple Plan and the All American Rejects, but everyone else around me likes hip-hop and rap  . I can listen to music at work and since me and one other person like my type of music we are always turning each others music off. Anyone else like this out there? The reason I ask is because me and a few other people, and I mean very few, like this type of music. I doubt this helps but I live in the south now. I'm formerly of Montana where hip-hop and rap have not yet taken over.

<Raises hand>

Me and my King Crimson obsession. A group that's either unknown, or, more commonly, entirely misunderstood by pretty much everyone around me (family, friends... nevermind coworkers or fellow students...). That's why my head went through the ceiling when Evil Urchin showed up here (first time I met another KC fan in a non-KC-forum context).

It's sad, really, but then you also have benifits. Like being able to intimidate/confuse/piss off other people around me whenever I feel like it by putting on something that sounds entirely outlandish to their ears.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

heh ... yea, i live in Brampton, the majority of people in my city listen to rap and hip hop. The majority of people in my neigorhood however listen to sheer dance garbage. My neigbor hood is predominatly italian ... and i don't know many italians who don't listen to that stuff.

Try being the only Edward Ka-Spel fan in 3000 miles.
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.

Yeah, but I can't name two people at all with exactly the same musical taste. I'd hardly call it a badge of 1nd13 pr1d3. Isn't it just normal?

Most people I know form overlapping, but not identical sets. (just do the diagram yourself, you know what I mean.)

I've always been rather fond of the Underdog song...

o/~ When villains in this world appear
And break the laws that they should fear
And frighten all who see or hear
The cry goes up both far and near
For Underdog! Underdog! Underdog! Underdog!

Speed of lightning, roar of thunder
Fighting all who rob or plunder

Underdog. Underdog! o/~

Tom

Oh, yeah 8) Along with the two or three other Prog/Power metal fans, we are proud of it. And when it comes to selecting music for our AMVs, nobody can touch us when it comes to originality - cause nobody knows (or cares) that this kind of music exists :!:
