They could just play the same things over and over, as many of the previous' generations favorites do these days. No, I can easily see them staying... just not as a musical force (but wait, they weren't one to start with! ). From what I've seen, they don't exactly have a nag for innovation; but there'll always be a few crazy fans who'll come to their shows. And that's enough to pay the bills, I guess.

I think Linkin Park is a breath of fresh air in the industry as far as 'fan service' goes. For this reason alone I hope they manage to broaden their horizons in the music world. I undeniably like their music for the simple reason that sometimes, you just need angry angsty thrash music that ISN'T Mercenary. I can headbang to Linkin Park just as well as anything else in my collective thrash/power bin. If they managed to realise that there are different things a guitar can do, and realise that drumming should be used for more than simply keeping the rythem of a song, yes, I think they could be very very good.
Linkin Park, along with Evanescence, IMO...and I'm probably going to get flayed for saying this... are right on the border of Metal/Nu-Metal, Linkin Park's rapping aside. Both bands just need a good solid push in the correct direction to become amazingly talented bands. Would the oppisite of sell-out be buy-in?

I agree with Nailz, Linkin Park and Evanesence have the ability to make better music, but they have to try first. They have the room for improvement, they just need to fill it.

Hmm... well, we've drifted off of Linkin Park, but I feel like adding my bit to that anyway.
I'm a big Linkin Park fan. Heh, I actually first heard there music in a DBZ music video, a rather nice one. Yes, they did use "In the End", which is way overused, but it was done nicely. I got interested, and listened to their music anbd was like, "hey, this is pretty cool." I didn't do much more with it until my friend gave me a CD of theirs, and I fell in love with it. Heh, before that time I'd never heard of them.
Anyway, they need to release their talent. Chester and Mike are excellent on vocals, in my opinion. Joe Hahn is fine with the turntables and sampling. Rob is an average drummer, and Brad is an average guitarist. Truthfully I'm not sure where Phoenix stands as a bassist. To improve, Brad needs to get into something more complicated, perhaps a solo, and they can make their music sound much better. However Linkin Park likes to keep everything clean cut, set to a pattern. They're perfectionists, and that in some way limits them. As a band they need to let Mike produce their album again, not someone from the outside, heheh. Their third album, Meteora, was kind of "poppy" with less depth to the lyrics; less metaphors/similes, more straightforward (the stength of that is that it is easy to relate to). It's good for them to experiment in that direction, but I think their next album should go back to some more raw material, like Part of Me, Carousel, and And One, but go in a new direction by also having Brad and Rob "step up" a little bit. And stop overplaying Numb on the radio! It's a good song, but too much of a good thing makes me sick!
Or maybe it would be best to surprise us all... hmm....

I found nothing to disagree with in the above posts. A reasonable LP fan at last.
Thank you.

Fear Factory - "Demanufacture" - great album, nice industrial edge, one of my favourite metal albums.Vlad86 wrote:
Same for me and Fear Factory. The song I heard is "Zero Signal", which seems to be exclusive to the Mortal Combat Soundtrack.
And jumping to another band:
Does Orgy have respect?
I know all the EMHs will more than likely disagree(or maybe they won't, depends on how narrow their musical tastes are) Also, I may drive ithaqua insane (all I have to do is ask what genre they fit into )
(Track 3)
As for Orgy having respect?
Unfortunately, very little, or at least not as much as you would hope. Most hardcore metal fans ignored them as soon as "Blue Monday" was off the radio, and you may have noticed that most rivetheads place them in the same "close, but not quite there" category as NIN and Gravity Kills.
I like them, but I'm a sucker for glam-rock. And I think it's funny that the Blue Monday single was the single worst disc they put out.
You should give this a try. Trust me.
