From the near the beginning of the thread.
Corran Productions wrote:Collective Soul
Dido
Coldplay
John Mayer
Matchbox 20
Moby
Pete Yorn
and Radiohead
Now it is:

Collective Soul
Coldplay
Moby
Pete Yorn
Travis
Red Hot Chilli Peppers
Barenaked Ladies
and Radiohead

Odd how things can change in just a month. I've been an isolationist of late so that might describe the change... well maybe except the Barenaked Ladies. Most them were already my favorites at one time or another.

Hehe, which is why I'm surprised you haven't used any of those besides Collective Soul for AMV's yet Corran - come on, I'm sure you'd do a good job with pretty much any of those

most of the rap song "do" have "fuck" but they rhyme it they dont just scream it to sound cool
and that sheet (the "recipe") was just for metal
1. Rhyming "fuck" doesn't make it any better than screaming it. Both are musical forms of expression.

2. A recipe for metal isn't a recipe for rock. There are many subgenres of rock that are very different from metal.

3. Limp Bizkit isn't metal. Hence the recipe for metal isn't:
"a fake-ass beeyatch that is talkin' about how he had a hard life that is
screamin' "fuck" everytime so everybody will say "hey,he's rude he's a bad guy" and all the lil' infants will like him 'cause he's a bad "dude"(annyin' word!!)"

Please read up on music history before making statements like these. Don't generalize rock with Limp Bizkit. His works represent a narrow subgenre of rock. Rock is too broad to be generalized with any single artist or "recipe."
i've read that N.W.A.(a famous rap band that was fightin' for the rights of black ppl)
got a letter from the FBI about their song("Fuck Tha police")
they said that they are humiliatin' young black male's for their color
did any of these wanna-be weild rockers got any letters?
I mean read up on the history of rock music before you make generalizations about rock music. Reading about the history of rap does not inform you about rock.
son_goten wrote: now here's an idea gimme 5 songs to hear
(just write 'em and i'll get 'em)
and i'll give ya 5 songs
k?
you said that rock is not just about tryin' to be cool?
What kind of rock songs? There are millions of rock songs. No five songs could not represent all of rock as a whole.

Yeah most of 'em are fake
social protest?against who?
and with all do respect
that social protest comparing to the life in the ghetto is nothing
Take protests against the Vietnam War, when civilians were drafted into a war the U.S. had no place in that cost thousands of lives.
Protests for civil rights were effectively fighting for a chance to get African Americans out of ghettos.

I procrastinate too much not to mention I'm doing stuff for work at home and I don't have as much free time as I used to. I'm working on a video for JACON and I'm not sure if I will get it done in time... -_-;; It is to a song by an old favorite of mine that isn't on that list though. :P

Heh, yea, I see what you mean. I myself don't have the time to pump out vids at the rate that a lot of people seem to.

Plus, choosing different stuff, or altering your favorites from time to time is probably a good thing for variety...

***

I think what I was wondering about lately is how some people, in picking music for AMV's, seem to go with their top favorites right off the bat, and stick to them, while others seem to 'beat around the bush' and go with their secondary favorites more, or even just music that simply crossed their screen of awareness at a particular moment...

The second approach is something strange to me, since I don't think I'll ever be able to stray far from even my top 5 or 6 favorite artists (or at least those and their side projec(K)ts  ).

So, maybe it's just my expectation of people making vids to their favorite music right away. :P Maybe it's me being too specific about my AMV music...

Heh, I still love the song "The World I Know" but I don't listen too it much anymore as editing with it had the effect of over playing it on me. I will still edit to my favorites but I've begun to take this deterance into consideration now. I guess that explains it in my case.

You're cute when you're cynical!

Anyways, here goes nothing: 5 'real' political songs.

1) KMFDM - Glory
2) Scraping Foetus Off The Wheel - I'll See You In Poland, Baby!
3) Skinny Puppy - VX Gas Attack
4) Snog - Corporate Slave
5) Die Warzau - Land Of The Free

The lyrics should be fairly easy to find, some of these songs should be easy to come across too (although 2 and 5 will be difficult to hear without purchasing).
If nothing else, harsh noises get your attention.

:D

Thanks. Naw, I'm not cynical. I'm just offended - as you may read in my forum profile, 'real music' is an important term to me, and anyone running around calling a whole realm of music 'fake' without justification gets me a little ticked.

See? Good suggestions right there. I'd follow up on them to were I not off filesharing at the moment... since I'm getting suspicions my ISP is spying on me

To quote the as-yet-unsigned Norwegian black metal band Ragnarok:

IIIIIIIIT'S WAAAAAAR!!!!!!!!

I had previously considered son_goten to be just the .org's equivalent of Blabbermouth's useless but entertaining T-Boner, but after seeing him equate Fred Durst et al with metal, this can no longer be the case. I am on the point of flying to Israel to hunt his IP up and kneecap his sorry ass, because you don't fucking go there.

Get it through your shit head: Fred Durst is a *rapper*. His bullshit music has nothing to do with metal at all; the lyrics are purely rapped and the instrumental bits have nothing in common with the glorious heritage of Black Sabbath from whom all trueness springs. You are pointing in the mirror and saying, "boy, that dude is one ugly fuck", without realizing that it is your own face, reflected.

As the requested five songs have not been fulfilled, here's one that is thoroughly applicable to the situation, off Death's 1994 CD Individual Thought Patterns:

The Philosopher (Schuldiner)
--
Do you feel what I feel
See what I see
Hear what I hear
There is a line you must draw
Between your dream world and reality
Do you live my life
Or share the breath I breathe

Lies
Feed your judgment of others
Behold
How the blind lead each other
The philosopher
You know so much about nothing at all

Ideas
That fall under shadows
Of theories that stand tall
Thoughts that grown narrow
Upon being verbally released
Your mind is not your own
What sounds more mentally stimulating
Is how you make your choice
So you preach about how I'm supposed to be
Yet you don't know your own sexuality

Lies
Feed your judgment of others
Behold
How the blind lead each other
The philosopher
You know so much about nothing at all

Die slowly from extreme violence.
