iTunes comes to Europe
Last night the iTunes store was launched in Great Britain, France and Germany, with all songs being priced at 79p in the GB store. This has sparked a music war between iTunes, Napster 2.0 and OD2 (virgin, mycokemusic.com, wanadoo, msn music).
So what do you think of the fact that iTunes has finally come to Europe? I personally am very glad that it's arrived. I hate the credits system on OD2, and I think the songs on Napster 2.0 are very much overpriced at £1.09 per track. I've been waiting for quite a while for this to come across from America, and now I can actually put bought dowloads on my iPod ^-^.
So what do you all think?

Well, there is information out there to tell you how to remove the encryption if you own the license (and no, this does not require burning the song and then re-ripping it in mp3 format). Even in that case, though, iTunes doesn't even use mp3, and as far as I know, the iPod is the only one that can play .mp4/.aac files anyway (correct me if I'm wrong).bum wrote:yeah the itunes service is great, esspecialy considering the bullshit protection the songs have on them so ya cant use it on an mp3 player unless its an ipod, not to mention a load of other crap that the protection restricts against
Personally, I love the iTunes service, but I haven't used it much considering I only took advantage of it while Pepsi was having the giveaway promotion. The main advantages are the fact they use the MPEG-4 AAC audio standard (I have a bias against Windows Media, I'll state that right now; even if it's not protected, I still don't like it), which is superior to .mp3 in every way, and that they have a large catalog of artists and songs to choose from and don't charge a subscription fee (unfortunately for me, not all of the artists I wanted to hear are in there).

iTunes comes to Europe.
EU (European Union) collapses. Renamed CAB (Capitalist American Bitch)
Apple's original 1984 Macintosh commercial comes to fruition.
Big Brother says that iTunes and iPod are double plus good. All others are considered thought criminals and get taken to a special room for reprogramming.
"God bless America."
