A question about the popular dancing arcade game music
Lately, I've seen, in arcades all over, dancing or lasor games where you move your feet or your hands to dance music. One group of those dancing games is called Dance Dance Revolution or something. I want to know where they found those awsome techno and dance songs for those arcade games. I can't find cd's half as good anywhere as the music that is used for those things. Does anyone know where I can find those songs or does anyone know anything about the music in those dance games? All knoweledge is most welcomed please

Or, in some cases, they take actual music from performing musical artists and make a custom mix of it just for the game.Akai Rurouni wrote:I don't know too much about these games, so take this with a grain of salt. (i.e. I might be wrong) However, I believe some games use actual music from performing musical artists, and other have custom music made just for the game. So I think it actually depends a little on which game.
(In particular, the ParaPara Remix 2 (Kotoko version) of "Ren'ai Chu!" by I've Sound (Kotoko and Aki) sounds a LOT better than the original, IMHO... but I'm pretty sure you can find both on I've CDs.)

Dance Dance Revolution as well as Para Para Paradise, beatmania, drummania, etc. etc. are all games that are made by a subdivision of Konami called Bemani. Searching around for Bemani will likely get you the best results.
The vast majority of the music in these games however are made by DJs that are hired and work strictly for Konami. So short of buying the OSTs, there isn't really a great way to get alot fo the music from those games. There are a few alternatives though. Alot of the licensed tracks from Dance Dance Revolution are available on compilation albums called Dancemania which are but out by a company called Toshiba-Emi. For the most extensive list of Dancemania/DDR related music, Check this page: http://www.toshiba-emi.co.jp/dancemania ... ndex_j.htm
Para Para Paradise also uses music from Dancemania, but if is that style of music that you are into, I guess the best way to find it would be to search around for Super Eurobeat. That is the genre commonly associated with Para Para music.
If you are into the Trance/Techno/House kind of music, You should check out the Beatmania IIDX OSTs, or check out the music released by Avex ( http://cavex.avexnet.or.jp/TOP2003/afball.jsp ) That is where the vast majority of Beatmania's licensed tracks come from.
If you are interested in obtaining the OSTs for practically any of these games, they are redily available on Ebay usually for like $10.
I hope this helps you get started ^_^.
