This topic is still going?
Evanescence was somewhat ok at first, I only truly like them for one song ("Going Under"). I didn't really much pay attention to the lyrics, I just liked the tune.
Then next thing you know we have 20 billion some odd rapid fasn that have probably never heard anything else and are latching onto this band with a death grip.
Now, I'll admit that I fell prey to a similar occurence. When Linkin park first came out, I liked them. They were my "favorite" band since before that, I didn't really have any music I liked, it was all a blur. (Woo HOO! C'mon, doesn't anyone know them or that song? Thank you Starship Troopers commercial). They I started hearing other stuff. For instance, soon after I heard "Crawling", I heard "Fiction(Dreams in Digital)" (by Orgy).
I still liked Linkin Park at the time, but I was starting to move towards Orgy. From there I started going out a bit picking up other bands (some that are now considered "untalented", but at the time I liked them)
Soon I had found two bands that had replaced Linkin Park at teh top of my list: System of a Down and Orgy.
I stopped for a while and just kinda lived off System of a Down for a while, but about a year ago, maybe a little less, I started looking for other new things, things that to me sounded good.
At this point in time, Linkin Park was ok, but now that I had heard so much more, they weren't as "revolutionary" as some made them out to be.
Now I have much better bands that probalby haven't seen much mainstream ligh because they chose not to appeal to the mainstream.
Rammstein, KMFDM, Dope Stars Inc., Orgy, Deadsy, Powerman 5000.
Right now:
KMFDM > Evanescence

What you're saying is true, Vlad86.
Truly believe people like the "cattle effect" in music.
Most of the Evanescence fanatics know absolutely nothing but still consider themselves hardcore fans.
It's fine to connect with the music but damn some take it too far into a very idiotic place.
Evanescence has its place in my life but I'm really nobody's fan, except of music itself.
PS: Rammstein's most excellent.
And yes, the thread is still alive, someone necroposted.

Man, Evanescence was around for so long...then "Bring Me To Life" comes out on the Daredevil soundtrack and "OMFG BEST BAND EVAHER I AM BESTEST FAN!" times a billion...
But anyway, its hard to say because everything of theirs has been blasted into my ears so fucking muxh against my will that I don't really like them anymore...same thing happened with Linkin Park.
