:o

Am I the only one who saw Otohiko as closer to middle-aged? He's younger than I am, fer Chrissakes.

'82, literally a 90s child. I still find Smashing Pumpkins nostalgic.

Hah, when OT was around, most people had him pegged at his mid 30s. His avatar at the time didn't help.

Heh, to each his own. Some get their genders or names confused all the time, my thing is age...

One ironic thing about this though is the fact that I quit posting on the Krimson News (largest King Crim-related forum on the net, where at one point I was the top poster) because "I wasn't 'mature' or 'insightful' enough for their discussions". To be fair, the average poster age there is around 40. (there's your back-to-topic music relation right there)

So I'd say it's all relative, really.

That's true. Blame ourworld

In that case, see my .org profile and/or recall my previous avatar Image

And before I go completely OT...

Now, what is it that defines a 90's child, musically? So far, a lot of the music references I observed go to 80's and earlier rather than 90's.

To be honest, I haven't heard much popular music out of the 90's that I really liked, myself.

Popular music of the 90's that liked at the time were...feeder, oasis and blur.

Nowardays I'm much more into "oldies", I mean seeing Brian May play "We Will Rock You" was the reason I started playing guitar :) Queen was my favourite older band for a long time but now I very much like Led Zeppelin.

And why has no one mentioned Pink Floyd yet?

I was born in Nov '89, so, my whole childhood was in the 90s.

My kind of music back in the day was what my brothers listened to... Metallica, Megadeth, Green Day, Offspring, Sponge, 311, Stone Temple Pilots, Candlebox, Gin Blossoms. That shit was the soundtrack of my childhood. Not that I'm quite a grown-up yet, it's still been awhile since I blew up a Power Ranger.

Of course, there's all the stuff my mom & dad listen to... Allman Brothers Band, Little Feat, Doobie Brothers, The Cars, Led Zeppelin, Yes, Steely Dan, every barbershop tune you could stand.

Heh, well, in that case, I should probably just describe myself as a child of a... musician.

My dad is a professional guitarist (also flute player/keyboardist/lyricist/singer) who did everything ranging from pop, rock and blues to classical, flamenco and avant-garde. The soundtrack to my childhood is a nylon-string acoustic guitar, intermixed with an occasional 70's rock record and a blues ballad or two.

No, he hasn't been in any bands you would know; he mostly makes his living playing solo classica/flamenco/acoustic jazz music independently. He wouldn't play in a band unless he were the unquestioned leader, anyway...
So, professional in the sense of both the level of playing and the fact that this is his only job. Not in the sense of being a known name.

No further detail on this to prevent too-much-information about me getting out
