more bad news in metal

metalstorm.ee wrote:Nasum Vocalist Mieszko Talarczyk Is Missing 28.12.2004

Mieszko and his girlfriend went to Thailand to spend the holidays. They left a few days before Christmas and were scheduled to return right after New Years Eve. They were staying in a bungalow at Phi Phi Island and when the big wave came and swept the bungalow away the two were seperated. Mieszko's girlfriend is being reported hospitalized "badly injured", and he himself is still missing.

That goddamned Tsunami has taken most of what I love...
And now this.
Wasn't dimebag enough?
Stupid fate is trying to destroy metal.
It seems everybody was there (Thailand/Countries near the IO.)
How about putting some damn warning systems?

Hope they find him but the chances are...
Less than likable.
Now, if something happens to Till then I'll go kill someone myself.

While yes, having an early-warning system in place would undoubtedly have saved thousands of lives if not more, the problem is that tsunamis aren't common in the Indian Ocean. On the other side of that peninsula that includes Thailand, Sumatra, Indonesia, etc, they *do* have warning systems in place, because tsunamis are more common there. Noone was expecting this to happen where it did.

The island of Sumatra near where the earthquake was centered) actually moved about 100 feet, the tectonic plates shifted a helluva lot, and the earth's rotation may have actually wobbled a bit.

So, yeah, you really could say the world is falling apart...

I read the /. article and it said that the rotation is now off by 3 microseconds and many islands and plates shifted up to 100 ft.
