News to me.

Kusoyaro: We don't need a leader. We need to SHUT UP. Make what you want to make, don't make you what you don't want to make. If neither of those applies to you, then you need to SHUT UP MORE.

Last thing I came across on the subject said he alternated between saying it was a love song and being about masturbation. To mess with the media.
The original intent was supposedly as a love song for his Japanese girlfriend, I think. Been quite a while since I looked at it all.

Yeah right.
They would people believe that grunge killed metal. All it did was get rid of some of the cheesy bands. The cool ones were unphased. Unless the booze got them. GNR
Anyway they actually had Fenton from the Vapors that wrote the thing. Wish I could think of the name of the band.
Here is a quote he gave from an interview.
"I wrote it as a love song. But when I went to America everyone said to me, "Is it about wanking?" In interviews, I'd say alternatively, "Yes it is", and "No, it's not". It could be about a lot of things. I just woke up with that phrase in my head. It's just an image which captures what that song was all about. But, no it wasn't intended to be about wanking at the time. What surprised me was that the Americans thought it was an English phrase!"
