I tend to use Metal. Like Iron Maiden or Judas Priest. I have plans for An AMV using some Judas Priest in the near future. It made me sad when I saw the lack of Judas Priest here at the a-m-v.org T_T Not to mention a lack of Audioslave.

The world needs more GOOD death metal videos.

I have 2 vids that I want to get done, both using known anime, but using non-mainstream music. Thing is I'm just too lazy to sit down and edit.

A friend of mine got me hooked on anime, only after getting me hooked on Fear Factory's Digimortal. After that CD, I pretty much downloaded any metal I could find and my collection has grown, both legally and illegally, since then. With making as much money as I do now, it's possible for me to get more of the lesser known bands because most of the time, the lesser known bands have an awesome tune and no one recognizes them for it or anything. There's one band I know of, Celldweller, who is in no way mainstream. They have some really good stuff IMO. I need to get a list from Kai about some excellent metal CDs to get :P

Well,on contrary to the majority of you,I am new to both anime and music!!

Although 19 years old,I haven't been listening a lot to music until two years ago.
Of course,I was listening to radio but nothing beyond that(and it was mostly greek music).I didn't even have amy mp3s in my pc!!!!(Yeah,I sucked,I know...)
My first real contact with music except radio was through some DBZ music videos a friend of mine gave 5 years ago.I remember watching Trunks Story music video with Offspring - The Kids aren't alright. The first amv I ever saw. What a day...
And it would take me another two years after that to download my first amvs since that was the time I got Internet.

After that, with the end of high school,I took from my friends every mp3 they had!!!About the same period,I watched my first anime on pc(Love Hina) and my love for amvs was born!!!

Anyway,enough with the past.

I really want to use rather unknown songs for my amvs but it is a bit impossible since I don't have: 1)a large mp3 collection and 2)a lot of money to go to the stores to buy whichever album I like!!
So,I just use my favorite songs and find an anime that can really fit with them!!

Generally,I like punk rock and heavy rock although most of my amvs don't have these types of music.I don't hate mainstream but it can become really tiring sometimes.
Favorite band:Offspring

Lately,I have fallen in love with Hoobastank and Good Charlotte so my plans are to make a Gundam Seed amv with Hoobastank - Same Direction and a Beck amv with Good Charlotte - The Reason.

But all these after summer.I'm having exams this period,dammit...

I believe Matt Murray once said something like, "I make AMVs as a way of getting other people to listen to the music that I like." That's not always necessarily true for me, but lately I have tended to use music that I think deserves more exposure.
I have no idea how to use this new forum.

I make LOTS of AMVs with obscure music. There's also songs by a particular artist that get ridiculously overused, and end up being the only song by that artist to be featured in the AMVs here, so I make videos with songs by these particular artists that no one else has the guts to use. I shun today's mainstream with the exception of The Darkness, Jet, The Killers and The Zutons, and various rap and R&B artists.

Songs that desperately need to be featured more in AMVs:

Survivor:
I Can't Hold Back
The Search Is Over
I See You In Everyone
How Much Love
Man Against The World
Rebel Son

Night Ranger:
Don't Tell Me You Love Me
Sing Me Away
Call My Name
Eddie's Comin' Out Tonight
Can't Find Me A Thrill
(You Can Still) Rock in America
When You Close Your Eyes
Sentimental Street
I Will Follow You
Goodbye
Four in the Morning
Interstate Love Affair
The Secret Of My Success
Color Of Your Smile
Restless Kind
I Did It For Love
Someday I Will
As Always I Remain

The Darkness:
Love Is Only A Feeling
Stuck In A Rut
Holding My Own
Black Shuck

Dennis DeYoung:
Don't Wait For Heroes
Call Me
Warning Shot

John Cafferty & The Beaver Brown Band:
Voice Of America's Sons

Stan Bush:
Heart vs Head

Songs that need to be retired from AMVs altogether:

Evanescence:
ALL OF THEM

Linkin Park:
ALL OF THEM

The Darkness:
I Believe In A Thing Called Love (blah)

Survivor:
Eye of the Tiger

Bon Jovi:
It's My Life

Slipknot:
ALL OF THEM

hello i'm new here and i just made a video using clips from the series of boys be... one of my favorite series bec. i'm into romantic anime only... it fites me cuz i am a hopeless romatic  i'm releasing the video soon but i used ulead videostudio 7... (kinda old verison) and the video has some choppy parts in it... but i'm not planning on revising it... i have no time... the audio that i put on it is a not that mainstream kinda thingy bands from the us name ANADIVINE... the genre of them are emo/screamo like my chemical romance... one of my fav. bands today... the video is ok... i'm not intending of putting a very pop. band on a video bec. of very popular bands make me sick... cuz i'm into underground music esp. punk, hardcore, emo, ska, metal etc... MORE VIDS WITH not so popular music will be good.... rather than bands like hoobastank etc....

KiD, with all due respect, introduction posts aren't allowed here + your signature is too big.

Anyway, people are going to do what they want. So live and let live.

Well, all opinions are welcome and everyone may say whatever he/she feels.
As long as it is related with the subject...

But,about Hoobastank,I believe that they have very good songs that may match with a lot of amvs but they aren't used. All you can find is Crawling In The Dark and The Reason amvs. Two great songs but there are a lot more, for example Pieces,In The Same Direction,Out Of Control.
