I still think the amount of attention they get is by far disproportional to the quality of their music, even if that quality is not neccesarily described as "crap". But I could likely name several dozen artists whom I consider by and far more talented and deserving of attention, and then go cry about their comparative and undeserved lack of popularity.

I don't even blame the Backstreet Boys or their producer. I blame all the poor saps that sink their filthy teeth into this poor excuse for monotony.
Everybody
Rock your body
Everybody
Rock your body right,
Backstreet's back alright.

Now throw your hands up in the air
And wave 'em around like you just don't care
If you wanna party let me hear you yell
Cuz we've got it going on again

I think N'Sync says it best with

Sick and tired of hearin’ all these people talk about
What’s the deal with this pop life
And when is it gonna fade out
The thing you got to realize
Is what we’re doing is not a trend
We got the gift of melody
We gonna bring it ’til the end
C’mon now

Great. Just great. Guess which song I have stuck in my head now.

my favorite part is how YOU are taking this so seriously, I mean did you not expect that starting a BSB thread wasnt going to get you negative comments? especially about your sexuality, whether you mentioned calling you gay or not?

If you read around this general music category, you may notice most threads have to do with j-pop/j-rock, metal/ rock, punk/ avril or punk/techno... there is no post here if you love BSB, N*sync, hilary duff and linsay lohan! So maybe, just maybe since the topic is unprecendented (for all you youg'uns that basiacally means it hasnt happened before and we dont know the outcome if it were to happen) so it wasnt such a good idea, especially if you were going to take the comments to heart.

...so we're biased because we don't like their music? That's an interesting way of looking at it, I suppose. Regardless, since when is talent the issue here? You know, if my favorite vocalist were to sing the same stuff that the Backstreet Boys sing, I would give that album a similar appraisal. Does that mean I'm biased? As far as I'm concerned, as long as I hear enough of their music to get a feel for it, I have every right to judge it without having my opinion dismissed as mere bias. I imagine most people participating in what "discussion" there is in this thread have heard at least three songs from said band. The naysayers have probably found nothing they liked, but I wager there are a few that make an effort not to like the music because they don't much like the pop genre. That's bias. The kids can sing, I'll give you that, but singing isn't the sole element of their music. Maybe, maybe, if they did an a cappella album or song that didn't ooze too much attitude or sappiness, I would like it.

They had a good song or two. I thought the song in space and the song with the horror-inspired clip was pretty ok. But beside that, it's still cookie cutter happy poppy boy band music i've been hearing ever since.

I was really big into their music a long time ago. I still like their music, but I think that having a variety of likes in music and other cultures has helped me to see all sides. I see the negative and the positive. I love all kinds of music:D Some a bit more than others mind you but still. :)

Please don't compare the Backstreet Boys to Hilary Duff and Lindsey Lohan's dumbasses who got a free ticket off of the Disney channel, especially since they can't sing.

I didn't just bring up this topic out of nowhere. There's a damn point! I said they came back and I'm happy about it. I wanted to hear people's comments about what they thought about it too. I knew there would be some negative comments, just wasn't expecting to be called gay, stupid, or any other shit like that. If they want, they can call me it, I'll just make up some bull and say something wrong back.

I'm not angry by the way, that's just my tone of typing.

Not expecting it? Doesn't your opening post negate that? :?

Not that I'm saying that you are gay, but perhaps if you had not started off with "call me gay" right off the bat, it would not have been the first thing to pop into the other posters' minds.

Maybe your post should have been, simply, "What do you think of the Backstreet Boy's comeback? Do you think that they will fail or be successful?"

That would have been less flame-bait than "call me gay."

*notes to self* Never start a conversation saying "call me gay".
