Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth
Has anyone else heard this beautiful masterpiece?
I love how it has the mellodic guiitars, fast drumming and fantasy theme [the silmarillion] of powermetal but also an emotional darkness and Hansi's voice is beautiful, but he can make it sound like he is crying out in anguish. If you like mellodic metal and Tolkien, don't miss this album.

Re: Blind Guardian - Nightfall in Middle Earth
It was the first Blind Guardian album I bought, and it stands with Imaginations on how good it is. It was the transition album into the "new" style that they have, which isn't all that bad. It's the best of the two that they've put out since then, and Imagainations is the best of teir "old" style, though it's hard to say which I perfer.Revenant42 wrote:Has anyone else heard this beautiful masterpiece?

And you're a lucky bastard to live in a European country, BG doesn't come to the US very often. We're getting one set of shows in early 07, I'm pretty sure. That's the plan, anyway.

I have an honest and straight forward question that deserves an honest and straight forward answer, why do power metal bands insist on singing about dragons and goblins and magic and stupid shit like that?
He sees the faces of the dead, Guts are strewn from the children, Splintered bones poke through skin, Gratification through castration, Roasting parts for consumption.

Because they like to. Same reason death metal bands screamgrowl about raping corpses and killing people and generally stupid shit like that. Ask an honest question, get an honest answer.Ted Bundy wrote:I have an honest and straight forward question that deserves an honest and straight forward answer, why do power metal bands insist on singing about dragons and goblins and magic and stupid shit like that?

thats all I was asking for, thanks for the reply, when I first heard power-metal I thought they were kidding, but now I know they're truthfully serious about their lyrics.Tono_Fyr wrote:Because they like to. Because it is epic and interesitng in the case of Blind Guardian and kamelot, or hilariosuly cheesy like in Rhapsody and Dragonforce. The more serious power metal bands tell stories, and aobut the emotions of characters, like medieval bards, and fantasy stories are the most epic/interesting/powerfull.
Warriors represent strength, honour, grace and skill, which is pretty damn metal \\m//
Why do BM band sing aobut Satan, which is no more real than lves?

from an old SOAD fan to another, don't listen to power-metal, its stupid, try listening to bands with some talent (not saying all power-metal bands have no talent, just about 99.7% of them don't)SOAD2k8 wrote:I'm guessing that the title is a play on Lord of the Rings, is it not?
Sounds pretty cool because I am really starting to get into this stuff so I'll check it out.

Just expanding my horizons, tis all. Nothing wrong with that. SOAD may be my favorite band, but I do listen to variety of rock/metal, and I like that kind of variety.Ted Bundy wrote:from an old SOAD fan to another, don't listen to power-metal, its stupid, try listening to bands with some talent (not saying all power-metal bands have no talent, just about 99.7% of them don't)SOAD2k8 wrote:I'm guessing that the title is a play on Lord of the Rings, is it not?
