REAL ROCK? I don't care what you call Nightwish and Blind Guardian, BUT NEVER CALL IRON MAIDEN ROCK, you should show a little more respect.Revenant42 wrote:'I find Good Charlotte's music shallow, meaningless and uninspired.'

Metal is a subgenre of rock....Ted Bundy wrote:REAL ROCK? I don't care what you call Nightwish and Blind Guardian, BUT NEVER CALL IRON MAIDEN ROCK, you should show a little more respect.Revenant42 wrote:'I find Good Charlotte's music shallow, meaningless and uninspired.'

Most non metal rock sucks balls except for old prog stuff, but Maiden are a type of rock band.

as far as I'm concerned, rock is 100% different than metal except for the fact they use the similar instruments, metal origins were influenced by rock, but definitely isn't a subgenre, you should show a little more respect.Revenant42 wrote:Metal is a subgenre of rock....Ted Bundy wrote:REAL ROCK? For crying out loud Ted, now even I wish you'd shut up.Ted Bundy wrote: as far as I'm concerned, rock is 100% different than metal except for the fact they use the similar instruments, metal origins were influenced by rock, but definitely isn't a subgenre, you should show a little more respect.
You're seriously discrediting yourself left and right. If only you'd get off your high horse and put in a bit of reasonable argument instead.

Of course it's true that genre definitions are a relatively arbitrary construct. Genre/style is something that only exists in the study of music, and not the music itself.
But your constant attacks on everything that is not (according to you) metal, sneering at people who disagree with your position, and just poor attempts to divert argument into abstract territory that has nothing to do with music... that will not get you anywhere.
And frankly, if that's your position, than perhaps I could play my side here, and ask you that you show some fucking respect for the whole rock movement of music within and without society, of which metal is an inseparable part of, no matter how much you would like it to be.
Enough. I don't even know why I'm so irritated at the fact that you're embarassing yourself with your poorly-disposed argument. Perhaps that's because, unlike some other people, I do detect an inkling of a reasonable music listener in you.
The Birds are using humanity in order to throw something terrifying at this green pig. And then what happens to us all later, that’s simply not important to them…

the only music I have attacked on this site is completely talentless and uninspired, when I first posted on this site I tried to suggest different bands and genres of music and got an extremely negative response, since then I have been nothing but an ass-hole and prick because all the responses I've gotten were from ass-holes and pricks, the intentions of my first posts were to open peoples minds on the subject that is music and maybe try to inspire people who are not complete idiots, but as it turns out about 95% of the people that give opinions on this site have been complete idiots and the only way to get any sort of response out them is to get under their skin and piss them off, which has been my main goal recently, I garuntee that I have heard at least one song from every metal band anyone has mentioned on this site, I don't necessarily like all the bands, but when I do attack a band people misinterpret why I'm ridiculing their favorite band and usually come back with an idiotic response, basically what I'm saying is, the only reason why I say such key phrases such as "you're a fag" or "that band sucks" is because I can't seem to hold an intelligent conversation with anyone who has an opposing view on music from me and these simple phrases are the limit to what they can understand, truthfully I would like to talk to someone about why they don't like a certain genre and why I don't like a certain genre, but unfortunately I haven't been able to find someone with that amount of mental capacity, someone who can listen to a song and take it in for what its worth instead of just simply liking it or disliking it.Otohiko wrote:For crying out loud Ted, now even I wish you'd shut up.Ted Bundy wrote: as far as I'm concerned, rock is 100% different than metal except for the fact they use the similar instruments, metal origins were influenced by rock, but definitely isn't a subgenre, you should show a little more respect.

Why does everyone diss Limp Bizkit? I'll admit, their music isn't in the top five in my collection at all, but i'll still take out their CD every now and then and listen to it. LIke on "Results may Vary", their cover of The Who's 'Behind Blue Eyes' was really well done. Stop dissing them already, and move on. You don't like them, got it.Unpronounceable_Symbol wrote:I respect them for ripping off a Jay-Z lyric, but I kinda wish they had better songs while doing it. I guess I can accept them as the faux-punk the fourteen-year-olds are listening to; better them than Limp Bizkit or something.
Now, Good Charolette has had their songs that weren't that bad. A few of them had lyrics that actually meant something. If they wrote them or not, i have no idea. But that still doesn't change the fact that they're singing about things such as Suicide(Against it, not for it) and more. Again, i don't really listen to them so i don't know many songs.
FUMOFFU rocks.
