Trying something new
I would like to get a bunch of different music (from all different countries)together. I'm not picky about type of music I just want something new to listen to. Anyone have any good recomendations? Right now I have Gasolina by Daddy Yankee and Dragostea Din Tei by Haiducii. Thanks

Some of these might ring your bell.
The Streets, hip-hop from England, very unique.
K'naan Originally from Somalian, K'naan is now a hip-hop performer in Canada, who maintains the feel of his homeland in East Africa.
Arcturus is a blend of immense numbers of styles and approaches.
Farmakon, thrash metal, jazz and a heavy Opeth influence, very chaotic and skilled.
OhGr, Canadian electronic artist who fuses in metal and other elements.
Primus are virtually indescribable. But rule.
I'm tired now, but maybe more next time.

Okay, here's some pretty varied stuff:
The Pogues: a band from Ireland, singing traditional Irish tunes with an alternative style
Ivan Kupala: a Russian band that plays Russian folk music blended with electronica--very unique
The Decemberists: from Portland, has the most evocative imagery I've heard in music (listen to their album Picqaresque)
Dead Can Dance: their music ranges widely from eastern music to medieval songs; they sing most of their music in echolalia--I highly reccomend their Toward the Within live album

I've heard the english one is terrible, comparable to the terribleness that is Du Hast in english *shudder*SOAD2k8 wrote:The Romanian one by O-Zone is the original (and IMO the best one, and that english one sucks)pink_hedgehog wrote: I have dragosta din tei from O-zone... are they different or does one of us have the wrong artist?
