hi who is your favorite rock or metal band that your listening to right now? Mine for the top choices are korn, nine inch nails, circa survive, misery signals, slipknot, finch, it dies today, hopesfall, and the killing moon. These are my most fav's, the one i like the most is misery signals, whats yours? And yes this is my type of music.

Three points:

1) Why list? This seems to be a slightly banal/non-argumentative start to a discussion, since it only asks for people to list names... not much discussion I see there.

2) I'd be very careful in defining rock/metal and trying to run the generic gauntlet here. What's metal? What's rock? I think I could list off a lot of borderline bands here that some would consider metal or rock, while others would not.

3) There are a number of metalheads on this forum who're quite willing to range in their reactions from

to being very hostile at the mention of the above-mentioned "nu-metal" bands and metal together. (Oh Integrate Satan dear, where are you?)

All that aside, my favorite strictly-rock band is DDT. My favorite rock-with-frills band and favorite band in general is King Crimson.

Metal? I don't know what's metal. I rarely listen to pure metal as such. I don't want to stir up that discussion again

Yeah, this will all end badly once integrate satan and nicholasdwolfwood get here....but anyway, while it's still civil i'd like to say i'm really liking Spiritual Beggars right now, and CKY, plus i just watch 9 minutes of alexi laiho shredding his ass off so i'm gonna go get my Children of Bodom albums too...oh and In Flames.

Nicholas isn't so bad, IS is the one that's got his head up his ass.

Anyway, my bands... Dream Theater, Blind Guardian, Pink Floyd, Bruce Dickinson's solo stuff, Queen. Those are a few that I've either bought an album by recently, or already own several.

Cannibal Corpse or Death

Black metal:
Burzum or Mayhem

Thrash metal:
Sodom or Sadus

Prog metal:
Opeth or Queensryche

Those are interchangable, depending on my moods.
