I don't know if he's technically underground or not, but Aesop Rock is great. This coming from someone with a bias against the genre of rap. Google up the lyrics to "Daylight", "1000 Deaths", or especially "No Regrets".

Yet if you made an amv and thusly promoted said underground rap and it became popular....it would cease to be 'underground'....

For shame...tsk tsk

Rawr(!) Anime and rap just don't have much subcultural crossover. I don't think people here generally ignore cuz they're white - it's just cause they don't have much positive exposure to it. Anyway a good proportion of white people dig rap - it's just not many of them are interested in anime. Anime's traditionally had fans more from the rock and geek side of youth culture.

And no, Aesop Rock is not rap/rock. Check him out.

Much like Heavy (HEAVY) Metal and anime, rap and anime don't mic well because there aren't many (if any) animes that lend themselves well to the atmosphere. When someone makes an anime with rap in mind for the soundtrack, you will see it become a LOT easier and not suck so much. For now, you can always hope. Hope, and make poopy rap videos.

Music elitists are just like every other group of elitists. Only instead of berating your taste with words from www.dictionary.com, they berate it with words from www.urbandictionary.com .

Underground hiphop is any hiphop act that doesn't have mainstream exposure, ie. theres no goddamn videos, radio play, or sit downs with lala and DJ Clue(less).

Most of you have no idea how huge hiphop is. Its not just Jay Z, 50, or get drunk in the fuckin club type shit.

It's vast ranging from Madvillian, in which one member wears a Dr. Doom mask, to Swollen Members whose cover art has been done Todd McFarlane. There are songs about everthing from bum rushing the bouncer, sex in trash cans, to conscience hip hop. Hell there is a few artist who have made songs about astro boy and robotech, i can't remember the names worth shit.

If you really want to make a video with UDG HipHop you can, use the beats the words or just hooks. I Guaranfuckingtee it will be hott if you do it right.

Hiphop is ten times better than rock because its so much harder, and there are some animes that fit tightly into the genre.

If anyone wants to give it a try, may i recomend some Abilities and Eydea, Gift of Gab, Aesop Rock, Defari, Hieroglyphics, K-Os, Cyne (speaking of Adult Swim has used there beats plenty of times to accompany their anime block)
I like em' young, i like em' old. Man, woman, maybe child, if your breathin then we're freakin.

Lets Get It On!!!!!!!!!!!
