the numb/encore video was quite crappy. at least the video i saw on yahoo launch. half of it was taken from a live performance - that half was ok, but the other half was lp in the recording studio making a halfhearted attempt to dance/gesture to the music. and looking really awkward doing it.
musically it was lacking, even for what i expected. jay-z's tempo was too slow for lp, and lp's beat was too regular for jay-z. so the lp ends up playing a slow version of numb, and jay-z ends up forcing his lyrics out to match the beat rather than rapping with a natural speech tempo. also, his voice doesn't match up well with guitar distortion.

I've never liked Jay-Z, but there are a few Linkin Park songs I find decent. (Funny, because about 5 years ago they were my favorite band. Scary I know, but before that, I didn't really have a great knowledge of music. Hell before that, my number on song was "Techno Syndrome" by the Immortals aka the Mortal komabt techno music)
But this is just a horrible turn of events. It's sad because Linkin Park is fading from the spotlight and this seems like a sorry last-ditch effort to regain the center of attention.

they're not fading from the spotlight, they're just trying to squeeze every penny they can out of their songs, just like they did with reanimation.Vlad86 wrote:It's sad because Linkin Park is fading from the spotlight and this seems like a sorry last-ditch effort to regain the center of attention.

Actually, I liked a few songs on Reanimation, but not for the lyrics.bort wrote:they're not fading from the spotlight, they're just trying to squeeze every penny they can out of their songs, just like they did with reanimation.Vlad86 wrote:It's sad because Linkin Park is fading from the spotlight and this seems like a sorry last-ditch effort to regain the center of attention.

Reanimation was an awsome album. Sure most of the song were remixes, but they were mostly different enough from thier originals to justify a new released album.bort wrote:they're not fading from the spotlight, they're just trying to squeeze every penny they can out of their songs, just like they did with reanimation.Vlad86 wrote:It's sad because Linkin Park is fading from the spotlight and this seems like a sorry last-ditch effort to regain the center of attention.

yeah I'm not sure how well I digged the whole LPZ thing... but on the subject of reanimation.. yeah I liked it, and I think It's ok to release remix versions of your album.. but ummm.. aren't most remix albums the artist is putting together a showcase of remixes MADE BY OTHER PEOPLE!? LP went into the studio to remix their own album .. and at that point in time it was their Only MAJOR album release. I don't know but that sounded quite cheesy to me.

oh yeah sorry bout the double but I thought this was a better mix of Jay-z's stuff. (kind of grew on me 1/2 an hour after hearing it the first time.)
