Ok, ok....but to clear things up by "polished" I was still talking more about their playing and record production styles....as in, even when they use distortion, they don't really experiment much with feedback and chromatics like Nirvana did. So, your typical Greenday solo makes more sense and will be played very "cleanly" compared to your typical Nirvana one. Greenday feels the need to keep everything very predictable and orderly, so they play all their pieces, while not very challenging, very accurately. Meh, whatever, I'm just rambling now. Time to let this discussion die....HeavyMetal wrote:There skills are not yet at a level to be considered polished.

In the past Green Day was one of many bands that made a name during the boom of teen movies like American Pie and about 30 other titles.
Now they have become a little dark and have views on politics and other topics not relating to young romance.
If you ask me they just now became decent. Teen movie bands are a dime a dozen with flat topics.
Sometimes people out grow a band and sometimes the band out grows them.
Such backlashes from old fans have happened to many bands.

Like HeavyMetal said, the old albums of Green Day(for example Dookie and Warning) talked about life, joy, relationships, romance and generally about the happy sides of life. That's the reason they were put in a lot of teen movies.
These songs were never tiring,no matter how many times you were listening to them!!I heard Dookie for a first time at a friend of mine and I knew that I'm gonna like this band!!
Their new songs(American Idiot for example) are full of political messages although they remain great songs.Holiday and Boulevard of Broken Dreams are surely two great songs.
From their previous albums,I liked the most Burnout,Basket Case,Welcome to Paradise,Warning,Minority,Waiting. But generally, their level is above average.

It was awesome, they came on, and BJ waved to me, and there was a drunken pink bunny rabbit dancing to the YMCA, and there was 90'000 peeps there, and I had my kilt on, and they covered queens "we are he champions" and and and... IT WAS AWESOME !!!
