Just some I know off the top of my head.
I think you guys picked out some of the worst offenders between the two of you. However, you both missed Gwen Stephani. I would also like to point out, that almost anything colledge stations play is like sludge ot the ears.

I don't base my love for music based on how popular the band is, how pretty the dancer looks or how well they dance. Two of those are a big factor of pop culture, Imagine if Britney was a freak of nature, she wouldn't sell anything like she does now. I agree about what was said about Shania Twain, I can't stand her. Me and my bro make fun of her ass, and one of my old roommates use to Karaoke that song in his room all the time, so that just made me get sick of her even more. He loved to sing that Titanic song.

Music is the art of sound, not the art of lyrics and if the lyrics are good and the vocalist sucks, I don't like it. One form of music I generally don't like much is rap since most of the time it has some basic beat going on throughout the song with lyric busting as support. Oh yeah, I give it a chance but I hate country. I can't stand it.

BEAT THIS MOTHERFUCKERS

Puh-leeeese, fool. Give me something tough.

Beaten by a mile.

Admitedly that song was 3:30 longer than I needed. and roughly 12 minutes longer than I wanted it to be. The part at 2:44 had me laughing my ass off.

i suppose i'll have to borrow otohiko's essentialized philosophy of music (applied now in a different context) when i argue that being popular for celebrity, overrated, or commercially built != bad music. from these responses it seems that when an artist reaches a certain threshold of popularity, they suddenly = teh suck. would you really hate the music of pop singers if they weren't popular? if you allow your perception of an artist's popularity influence your perception of how bad the artist's music is, then that's just as bad as, well, fetishizing the inherent and delineated meanings of music.

anyways, on topic, i don't really listen to music genres or bands that i think are the worst of all time. but of the music i listen to, i gotta say some of the songs from mellon collie and the infinite sadness are the worst pieces of music i've heard. 'stumbleine' is rank with pretenses of poeticism. 'lily (my one and only)' does a horrible job of stylizing itself after 1920sish jazz. 'we only come out at night' is marginally better.

Well I like 'some' of Evanescence, though its only like a few unpopular songs, and I am a fan of Marilyn Manson's music as well. But I can see where people wouldn't like it, it all depends on the person. Lets see, I don't however like any of the 'pop cultural' music like Britney and all those others listed, and I especially don't like Shania Twain. *screams in agony* I'm sorry, to those who like her and most country, but all the new stuff talks the same crap, and I'm tired of listening. I go by lyrical value most of the time, so I do, however, like multiple forms of musical art, that however doesn't mean I'm going to listen to country so that I can sob myself to sleep, because I haven't found a song that will do that to me yet (not counting the ones that are so HORRIBLE that I think my ears are melting off!)

Worst song? "Run Joey Run" by David Geddes. Go find it and listen to it.

ABBA and Ace of Base would be my pick for bands. For song, MacArthur Park by Richard Harris.
Probably too busy to be here right now.

Any of this horseshit "music" that is so popular now ala Green Day (plz die in a raging inferno), Good Charlotte, Breaking Benjamin, Linkin Park, all those nasty pop sluts, boy bands, emo bands, commercial rap.

Bleh I could go on for days about how many sucky "bands/artists" are making money now that shouldn't be.
