Oh and before anyone tries to pull a fast one, Nightwish is not Gothic Metal...and as for Cradle Of Filth, though I am one of the rare few who will admit to liking them in public I did omit them as I myself am not sure where exactly they would fall, extreme gothic metal maybe? Is there such a thing...alright I'm done now....and yes I agree that Metallica sucks now, but opposed to popular belief, I thought they sucked from the beggining.

Are any of yu Goth? Period. And if there are no goths, what am I? I'm a goth. I love all kinds of rock, And just because we dress in black and stuff, doesn't mean we worship satan.

Easy there Damian, first of all, for a goth you have no idea what Gothic music is or who even plays it.

"black and stuff"? that was the best you could come up with to describe your true gothic awesomeness?

You are confusing Goth with Emo, it's a common misconception...I can't blame you there for just saying random crap you heard somewhere, however, this thread really is going nowhere now and whatever purpose you hoped to prove, you have failed.

"goth" as you're doing it is a fashion fad, geez. Seriously, I swear, people like this are giving "goth" a bad name. I don't know if there was ever such a thing as real goths - but if there were, they certainly weren't running around listening to pop-punk and emo.

To me, it's a crying shame when someone pretending to be all dark listens to far "lighter" music than I do - when I more or less fall under the generic definition of "hippie".

90% of those bands re: your first post barely border on rock. I'll give you Metallica and L'Arc~en~ciel as rock (Ive never heard L'Arc~en~ciel but Ive heard good things so they get the benefit of the doubt) but the rest are pure Emo, screamo and punk.

I listen to what we at the org like to refer to as nu-metal with some occasional rap/rock: ie: hatebreed, dry kill logic, 40 below summer, ill nino, mushroomhead..so forth. (yea yea I know... gimme a break) BUT notice it still has the word metal in it. This is because while not being terribly heavy nor having a lot of from the bowels groans its still heavier than your "goth" bands like GOOD CHARLOTTE and FALL OUT BOY

I'm sorry, but I know no "goth" who could possibly like Good Charlotte. Good Charlotte took something raw and energetic, punk, and combined it with something corporate, shallow, and catchy... pop. How is it that a goth, who generally as a rule strive for "individuality," could listen to such pseudo-rebellious garbage?

I feel that "The Sound of Muzak" lyrics are appropriate here...

Kid Buu: No, Goths don't have to worship Satan. But it's best if people THINK they do, it adds to the gothiness. :O

But just to continue this thread for the heck of it, lets compare some lyrics. I'll start with Type O Negative, which is a rather unique goth group who sound more like a parody of Goth metal but it still works.

Okay, that was a bit emoish, but try these:

Compare this to anything from Fall Out Boy. Which is more goth? Come on now.
