Re: James Cameron's Avatar
This has nothing to do with the cartoon. This predates the cartoon by years. Screenplay was written by Cameron in 1996, iirc.

I guess this could be made into an avatar avatar :>Moonlight Soldier wrote:I've never watched the series so I pretty much have no interest in it whatsoever.
And I'm so unhip that I read the subject line expecting to see an 'avatar' ie: image. >>

Re: James Cameron's Avatar
They sued and won against M. Night Shaymalan for the name "Avatar" - so now the Avatar movies will have different titles, like the first movie, which is just called "The Last Airbender" now: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0938283/
So BLECH on this movie, even if the pics from Airbender scare me.

computer has problems with mov files. Apparently it's just as allergic to apples as I am . anyway here's the trailer for anybody that wants to see it. (not the teaser with NO talking the theatrical trailer that makes it look like a real movie not 9)

looks like maybe a little bit of 'RideBack' type elements where disabled man relishes in getting his abilities back and that interests me. Those things are big o.0

Re: James Cameron's Avatar
Had a convo with my brother for awhile last night, we talked about the storytelling in Avatar. Then he said something...
"You know what would be funny, is if the story sucks ass, you go and rewrite the entire thing and make it awesome and then do like a super-simple animation of it, you know, each character is like, 500 poly. Just focus on the story and the animation...that would be such an awesome jab to the face of formulaic-corporate-greedy-moneymaking Hollywood, if it ended up being a BETTER movie than what they made?"

Re: James Cameron's Avatar
After being spoiled rotten by the cutscenes in the last couple Final Fantasy games, not to mention the Blu-ray version of Advent Children---well, I'm just meh about this movie. Maybe Cameron should have checked with Squeenix before declaring he's making a movie that's all "revolutionary" and whatnot.
I still hold a grudge over him unleashing "Titanic" on the world.
