Re: Vent Thread
GAH DAMNIT.
In the past week, I studied nearly 10-12 hours a day for exams/midterms. I AM NOT A LAZY STUDENT. I WORK MY ASS OFF. I DO THE HOMEWORK, I NEVER MISS CLASS. And yet I ended up with 2 Ds and a C [and 2 As, but that's not the point I want to make]. Fucking school. Fucking teachers. Fucking curriculum.
I'd rather be working full time at the office. I'm considering transferring to a different school.

Re: Vent Thread
I attempted to recover a hard drive that crashed last year after deciding against having someone else do it for $1300. This involved spending $90 for a donor drive and replacing the read/write heads and pre-amp. I did everything perfectly. didn't work. Both drives are now completely unusable.
Of course I knew this was a possibility. I'm just disappointed it didn't fix the issue so i could get that data back and that the problem is more serious then i thought. Was hoping for a victory.
There's a lesson to be learned here kids: Invest in redundant storage.

Re: Vent Thread
My student ID is starting to die on me after five-and-a-half years of faithful service. I refuse to replace it since this is my last semester in college and there's only one place that has trouble reading it. Also, I would have to pay for a new card, which is total BS considering that this is my original one and I've clearly taken good care of it for it to last this long. Keep on keepin' on, buddy. Make me proud. Be The Little Student ID That Could.

Annoyed and upset...

I work for the City of Woodland, in the IT department, and the statements made in that article aggravate me. I've been busting my ass (along with my coworkers) getting the library public computers up and running since the day they went down. These are computers that aren't vital to city operations. I've put vital city operations on hold to get those computers up and running. The library has been priority #1 for our department, which is understaffed to handle the problem along with the 6+ other departments we have to keep up and running because they are vital to every day city operations and safety. On top of that, fixing other issues at the library involving public services and city operations.
What annoys me more is that the person who wrote the article and the one who wrote the original article that this cites didn't bother to research what's really going on and making statements based on 2nd hand (or 3rd hand is some cases) information from people who are just as frustrated as we are. The only difference between them and us is that we know what the real problems are and have been working on them non-stop. Be a real journalist and get the whole story next time.
