An interesting necropost actually, in a way.

Looking back 6 months later...
Nope. My list hasn't changed one bit, either.
1) King Crimson
2) Sylvian/Fripp/Gunn band
3) Captain Beefheart
4) Frank Zappa
5) Gentle Giant

Oh my god, a Mercenary fan? I love you.. have you gotten 11 Dreams yet? What do you think?
Why didn´t I find this earlier :?

Well I think you should own it by now, if not get it. It´s great, there´s more of Mikkel High pitch vocals in it and the whole "Dream" concept is a bit strange, but it´s overall an excellent ablum. My favorite one of that album is "World Hate Center".

Bizzare post claiming objectivism. Well, I've learned to not take pretenses of objectivism for unusual, sadly, but the mix in the list is indeed bizzare. I mean, seriously. How can you even try to make a 'most skilled' (if there's such a thing) list with Symphony X and Sum 41 in consecutive position?

No, it's not that. It's some of the bands that you included.

Oh, I didn't mean the order. I meant the list in general. I think any possible comparison between Sum 41 and Symphony X is futile. 1) It's very obvious that they're too different musically and in terms of their general approach to what is "good music" or "skillful playing" 2) It's even more obvious that, in terms of sheer technical prowess... draw your own conclusion there. The balance clearly weighs against a certain side here...

Which again underscores my point about the bizzarity of such a list.
