i just got from the movies and yes belive it or not i saw a movie called
"School Of Rock" has anyone see this movie?
and that movie really had an effect on my theorys
there was a scene when they go and sign their band
and one of the kids go to a a van full of rockers and they're somkin'
and the teacher finds him and tell him to get out of the van
and then he says : "i just wanted to hang out with some real rockers"
and then the teacher says : "they are not rockers they are posers"
that made me think maybe not all rockers are posers
I apologize for insulting you before.

I should not have. I should have instead insulted your media delivery system, which did not provide you to the above insights earlier, and your educational system for not making you realize that such insights were being held back.

This being said, you ought to pay more attention to your local music scenes, hip-hop as well as rock. You'll quickly find that yes, there are a bunch of posers who are just in it to look cool, but there are people in it because they can't do anything else. Underground bands don't make big bucks; they continue touring on five dollars a day, splitting a pizza between six guys, sleeping in the van, then going back and working two jobs while living on mac and cheese to save for more recording time because they truly love what they're doing.

If you're looking to find some rock music that doesn't suck, you might want to start with Jimi Hendrix. He's from an earlier age, before digital recordings, with a voice that you probably won't hate...and just happens to have been one of the best and most innovative rock composers and guitar players ever to have walked the earth.

Check him out, Jack Black probably gave him some props...or he should have.

I Think:That Rock is The Most Pthetic type of music ever!(except israeli rap that is so stupid)

I think: That rap is the most pathetic type of music ever.
Wait, can it really be considered music when all they're doing is rhyming fast to a beat?
1.rhyming is a lot harder then screamin' "fuck"
2.whould u plz tell me how is rap "pathetic"?
1.Not all rockers scream fuck. Now, rhyming fuck is easy, and you don't even have to stress your vocals: I saw the duck, as he was snuck, and all what the fuck.

See? easy.

2. Well, not enough inspiration, unless boasting is considered a great art form.
And why does the world revolve around the ghetto?
If you're upset about bad living conditions, why not sing about Ethiopia? Or other third world countries? They have it worse off than most anyone from the ghetto.
Also, if you are going to sing about the ghetto, don't leave out the oppressed Jewish people from WW2, after all the term ghetto arose from the living places of the people whom Hitler oppressed in WW2.
I think that's more thought provoking and emotional than today's "hip hopized" ghetto.

And if you want real rhyming, there's plenty of classic writers that do it so much better than rappers.

Try some Shakespeare or some Alexander Pope.

son_goten wrote:
Sorry, I couldn't but help laugh at that statment.
Is it peer pressure when you find, and like the music all by yourself?
And very few, if any, rappers are from the ghetto, and I'm damn sure none of them are living there now.
It still makes me wonder how you can talk about the ghetto when you live in a $5,000,000,000 mansion
that is so stupid!
they are talkin' about what heppend to 'em as the were livin' there as kids how the cops discriminated 'em 'cause they are black
and Yes Biggie stayed there but i'm not sure why
and they are talkin' in there how their life was bad when they were in the ghetto so why whould they stay there

& the color is black u dumbass!
Well, if Biggie stayed there, then he must be the most "real".
Yes, every rapper was discriminated as a child, hence the strong dislike for the police

I just find it funny they can sing about the "horrible ghetto" while living in a mansion, driving $200,000 cars with ridiculous chrome wheels, and eat $200 meals.
Do they even go back and help the people living in the ghettos? y'know, instead of just singing about it, shoudn't they at least put money into the community?

System of a Down is an incredible rock band. They sing about political stuff, and one of their songs, P.L.U.C.K. (Politically lying unholy cowardly killers) was about the Armenian genocide. SOAD then put money into an Aremenian Genocide recogintion fund to help out the familes that lost loved ones, and to bring about awareness. They gave back.

Did any of your rappers, like say Tupac, give anything back, or did he just whine and do nothing about it like so many rappers?

son_goten wrote: what's worng with tellin' the world what's up in the ghetto and that we've gotta change that
Yeah, the ghetto is more important than world hunger, and religious wars, and terrorists, and evil, oppressive dictators, and political ignorance/evil.

son_goten wrote: and the teacher(jack black) hates mtv like me!lol
any other guys here hates mtv?
I hate MTV. Because either they don't play music, or if they do, it's always rap.

Most of the stuff I like isn't on MTV.
So your statement of rock being an MTV sell out is invalidated.
Tupac was on MTV, so doesn't that make him a sell out, by your definitions?

Oh, and you hate drums on rock...
Let me ask you, what's up with the super highly repetitive beats on rap?
And once again, those beats on rap are coming from a machine that is simulating a drum, just so you know.

And one more thing about rap, the songs just don't feel like they go anywhere...
It feels like there's no movement at all, like its sitting still.

Songs like Orgy's "Fiend", now those sound like they're moving. I can easily envison a car chase, or a battle on a speeding train.
Rap, nope, all I see is a guy standing and talking.
The Big O will KILL you!

and if they play rap
now which artist was it?
Usher?
Ja Rule?
Eminem?
Puffy?
i'm sure it was an "Hip-Pop" singer and not a "Hip-Hop" singer
there are a lot of "Hip-Pop" singers that r on MTV nonstop
downwithpants:
i'm a part of a group called "taimanim"
a long time ago('bout 80 years)
my family moved here(Israel)
like many other jewish ppl that came from africa
so i have a special skin(like all the other "timanim") i was born white
but i turned black by the sun if i'm goin' to chil out on the beach i don't need to put all kinds of creams on my body but i'll be okay
and if i'm goin' to the beach too much i'm goin' black and black
it's kinda hard to explain but did u get it?
and,Yeah i Know 'Bout the ghetto i've seen "Boyz In The Hood"
and who's that jack black?dawg
i've seen he's an actor but is he some kind of rocker?
Kai Stromler:
I should have instead insulted your media delivery system
what do u mean?

u want me to hear israeli-rap?
forget it!i ain't listenin' to any israeli rap/rock
maybe "Mizrahit"....
You'll quickly find that yes, there are a bunch of posers who are just in it to look cool, but there are people in it because they can't do anything else. the same thang goes to rap....there are posers but there are still true hip-hop even that it's dyin'(the true pure hip-hop)

i've heard he's a really good guitar player and i don't have nothing against guitars(i really liked the guitar on "Thugz Mansion" check it out that's a really good song)
i'm gettin' a song called "red house"
yah know that one?
and "Hey Joe"
1.Yeah U're right but there are those stupid-matel Hoes
2.not enough inspiration?there is too much inspiration to Different types of rap i think i just went over one type of rap
let's see what we've got here:
1.Gangsta Rap
2.Hip-Pop
3.R 'N' B
4.Under-ground Hip-Hop
5.Hardcore Rap
6.Freestylin'
and others
so i should'nt try and pack it all in one case
and there is inspiration for each type up in there

don't u get it? it's not just 'bout bad livin' conditions

like in 'Pac's "Changes"
just look at the motherfuckin' lyrics
2Pac Changes

Come on come on
I see no changes wake up in the morning and I ask myself
is life worth living should I blast myself?
I'm tired of bein' poor & even worse I'm black
my stomach hurts so I'm lookin' for a purse to snatch
Cops give a damn about a negro
pull the trigger kill a nigga he's a hero
Give the crack to the kids who the hell cares
one less hungry mouth on the welfare
First ship 'em dope & let 'em deal the brothers
give 'em guns step back watch 'em kill each other
It's time to fight back that's what Huey said
2 shots in the dark now Huey's dead
I got love for my brother but we can never go nowhere
unless we share with each other
We gotta start makin' changes
learn to see me as a brother instead of 2 distant strangers
and that's how it's supposed to be
How can the Devil take a brother if he's close to me?
I'd love to go back to when we played as kids
but things changed, and that's the way it is

[Bridge w/ changing ad libs]
Come on come on
That's just the way it is
Things'll never be the same
That's just the way it is
aww yeah
[Repeat]

[2]
I see no changes all I see is racist faces
misplaced hate makes disgrace to races
We under I wonder what it takes to make this
one better place, let's erase the wasted
Take the evil out the people they'll be acting right
'cause both black and white is smokin' crack tonight
and only time we chill is when we kill each other
it takes skill to be real, time to heal each other
And although it seems heaven sent
We ain't ready, to see a black President, uhh
It ain't a secret don't conceal the fact
the penitentiary's packed, and it's filled with blacks
But some things will never change
try to show another way but you stayin' in the dope game
Now tell me what's a mother to do
bein' real don't appeal to the brother in you
You gotta operate the easy way
"I made a G today" But you made it in a sleazy way
sellin' crack to the kid. " I gotta get paid,"
Well hey, well that's the way it is

[Bridge]

[Talking:]
We gotta make a change...
It's time for us as a people to start makin' some changes.
Let's change the way we eat, let's change the way we live
and let's change the way we treat each other.
You see the old way wasn't working so it's on us to do
what we gotta do, to survive.

[3]
And still I see no changes can't a brother get a little peace
It's war on the streets & the war in the Middle East
Instead of war on poverty they got a war on drugs
so the police can bother me
And I ain't never did a crime I ain't have to do
But now I'm back with the blacks givin' it back to you
Don't let 'em jack you up, back you up,
crack you up and pimp slap you up
You gotta learn to hold ya own
they get jealous when they see ya with ya mobile phone
But tell the cops they can't touch this
I don't trust this when they try to rush I bust this
That's the sound of my tool you say it ain't cool
my mama didn't raise no fool
And as long as I stay black I gotta stay strapped
& I never get to lay back
'Cause I always got to worry 'bout the pay backs
some buck that I roughed up way back
comin' back after all these years
rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat that's the way it is uhh

[Bridge 'til fade]
read this and u'll phukkin' understand

u ain't gettin' it at all there is no real Ghetto Hip-Hop today(Well,Most of this has gone)

and these "Shakespeare" 'N' "Alexander Dope"
can rhyme better then 'pac?
lol, u didn't even hear one 'pac song!

Biggie is not "The Realest" 'pac is "The Realest"
there is this thang called Gangsta Rap!
the Gangsta Rappers were always rich from Sellin' dope

i don't really know 'bout it but i'm sure they helpped

sing 'bout political stuff?c'mon we can't change nothing they will always
act like bitches

Alright, before you were insulting the music, which is alright.

Now apparently you're insulting our reasons for listening to music, which is odd.

Basically, I think you're saying that your reasons for listening to and liking your music are better than ours.

I say you don't even know the music we listen to, let alone the reasons.

***

Hate MTV? Ha. Shouldn't that be obvious?

Do I even watch MTV? Do I even watch TV at all? No.

***
1.rhyming is a lot harder then screamin' "fuck"
1. And rock doesn't rhyme? Well, not all of it. But the most accessible of it certainly always does, and it's a shame you can't see that.

****
the wanna-be wild-style to "look"(remember my "Looks" theory) cool/or sounds like a bitch to try and hide his annoying voice
Alright, I smell utter incompetence. Let's illustrate using my favorite 'rock' artist, Robert Fripp, and your favorite rap artist, Tupac Shakir...

Tupac publicity shot

Tupac performing

vs.

Fripp publicity shot
Fripp performing

Now you tell me who has the 'looks' here. You can't generalize this. As you can probably tell, looks are absolutely meaningless to me.

No, rock is not, or at least should not be, about looks. I listen to a whole range of ugly artists with unpleasant personalities. This isn't why I listen to them.

It's not easy to explain why I listen to the music I listen to, but it has nothing to do with popularity, image or looks. I'm the only one for miles around who listens to the same music I listen to the same way I do. When people ask me, or want a demonstration of, what kind of music I like, I get weird looks. Musically, not only am I not regarded as part of the 'crowd', but I'm generally looked at as a weirdo.

I listen to my music because it affects and reflects the way I think and live. I listen to it not to be happy or not to impress others, or not to pass boring and useless time. I listen to it for the sake of listening to it with all the attention and understanding I got. There's a joy of discovery in it. It lets me have a glimpse into another world. It lets me think in ways I never have before.

Pretentious? Possibly. But this is all part of the reason why I listen to it. And yes, much of it does fall under 'rock', technically.

***

Yes. If you think you can find high-quality music on MTV - no, you can't, and they are 'posers' if that's what you want to call them. I just call them 'mass music'.

Now please, stop generalizing about everything!

The kind of music I like varies on my mood, but most of the time it's either hard rock, 80's cock-rock or Kc & The Sunshine Band.

Ya'll don't know sheet About rap
it's the same...

Yeah i watch MTV but for "Punk'd" "Jackass" and other funny shows

Yeah maybe thwey do rhyme but it sounds like so-Phawkkin' stupid
and they CAN'T rhyme as good as 'pac/B.I.G
he was born on the streets of course he has musalses!
and second it doesn't matter to me
if 'pac was ugly but had great music i whould like his songs
yah know what i'm sayin'?
i don't fuckin' care 'bout that!
btw,not so much ppl listen to 'pac's songs
a lot of ppl say he's a "bad guy" like other rappers
but i phawkkin' know the meaning of what they're sayin'

the main thang i wanna say to ya'll there are 'posers' in rap too
and u can't find the 'realest sheet' on MTV just like 'Rock' music have a lot of subgenres that some of them are on MTV so does 'rap'!
