Something must be done about it. We'll do our best.

My computer keeps restarting over... and over... and over. The poor thing is dying on me. It's a hardware problem, but I don't know what, and I really don't fucking care. This thing has parts that are ten years old or more. It just needs to be replaced. I was going to do that when I had the money, but it looks like my computer decided that now is that time.

Great, because I totally have a stockpile of cash after essentially supporting my mother's sorry ass for the last half year.

It'll be a couple of paychecks before I can even think about this, assuming that I don't have some other emergency expense. I sure hope this piece of shit holds out 'til then.

Might be the power supply that's dying on you. Just taking a shot in the dark about what kind of system you have, a 350W psu should cover your needs. A passable power supply in that range runs about $30-$40.

Just another option if you need to get by for a while.

My grandfather (dad's side) passed away a few hours ago. We knew it was coming, as these last 3 or 4 weeks have consisted of the hospital, ICU, and finally hospice.

This sounds very likely. One fairly inexpensive way to see if that's it is to get a can of aerosol duster (or a standard air compressor), and check the inside of the computer for dust, particularly the power supply. Blow it out of there, and if it stops the restarting or cuts way down on it, there's the reason.

The computer in our living room has that issue, and I primarily blame the use of a 'desk' that provides probably the worst ventilation I've ever seen. I've had to deal with my PSUs just giving out after about 5 years, but they don't just randomly restart - they just get hotter and louder progressively until one day they sound like they're tearing themselves apart and burn out in a puff of smoke (literally; fried electronic smell is horrible).

Also a note that if the case is a MicroATX (which would be common for stuff like eMachines or Dells), the power supplies cost closer to $70 or $80. Probably due to needing to be smaller to fit inside there, and convenience comes at a premium.

Qyot27 I greatly sympathize with what you and your family may be going thru involving your grandfather's death and I'm sorry for your loss. Mine on my mother's side passed away 4 years ago, a week after my 21st birthday. He was the second and last grandfather I had die and even though now the pain isn't as bad as it was during his departure from this world, a part of that pain is still there. When I lost him it was like I lost two fathers since he taught me many things about how to be a godly man during the 21 years he was in my life and he was more of a father than my real father even though I love them both. The part of me that left with him was replaced with a greater intimacy of God and I know my grandfather is still by my side in spirit and I will see him again when I leave this world. I would like to say a prayer for your grandfather........

"Father God in Heaven, in the name of Jesus I want to say thank you bringing into this world Qyot27's grandfather, who was not only a blessed grandfather but a blessed father, husband, son, mentor, and soul to everyone he knew during his entire life. Lord God we just celebrated Father's Day and Qyot27's grandfather was one of the fathers that was honored on that day because he was there to give the next generations in his bloodline the guidances they needed in order to succeed and he surely must have worked hard to provide and protect and thus he was greatly rewarded for it by the love and care he recieved from his family members and friends. For years so many wonderful memories was created to his loved ones thanks to him and he helped shape their lives for the better. They were blessed through him, and the world was seen as a better place in their eyes because of him. The good times as well as the bad times they've experienced together shaped them into the people they are today. He will be a memorable person forever in their lives and their hearts because of the times he shared with them, and the sacrifices he made in order to raise them upright. May you bless not only them but also every person who has come into contact with him from the time he was born till the time he died Lord God. He is no longer suffering anymore from the pains of this world and is now an angel in Heaven with you and your begotten Son, Jesus Christ. Lord God I ask that you fill the void that was left in their lives after his passing, and with every passing day in their lives let them not look at this moment as a loss but as a gain in the knowlege that their loved one will always be by their sides and watching them alongside you in spirit, a higher form and will never leave them in spirit. Give them the knowledge that they will see him again after their rebirth in Heaven, the eternal paradise. May you become their sword and shield during this time of grieving for him holy Father, wrap your loving arms around them and protect them from every evil that would come against them during this time of grieving and do not let the bad emotions overcome them. Anytime they become overcome with sadness, anger, and frustration over his physical presense not here on this Earth with them, may you always be there by their sides alongside with the soul who they miss so much so you both can provide them with love, comfort, and hope. Let his memory always be a constant reminder to the lives he touched that even though tomorrow's not promised to no one, the time that we share with our loved ones will last forever in our hearts and we can pass that same love to others, from one generation to the next. In the magnificent and holy power of you God, we do say, Amen."

General money problems. Apparently I screwed up my budget spreadsheet and overdrew in my personal checking account when I payed off my student debt. >_>

Not a big deal (just 20 bucks over and a 30 buck overdraft fee), but that's still 30 bucks I have to pay now and don't have any source of money (other than credit cards) until Thursday.

Also, just burned through a huge chunk of my savings because the assholes as student accounts failed to tell me that ALL my student debt was due yesterday. My budget had planned to pay it off 2 weeks prior to graduation, leaving me plenty of time to accumulate the money needed to pay off the debt. I HATE it when shit pops up and burns my savings, especially when I'm really careful with my finances. >_<

Also, had a "holy shit I'm getting old" moment, when I realized I need to open a 401(k) in a few months.
